i did soemthing stupid a few days ago and went over some fairly decent size rocks. they hit the bottom of my car and now there is something knocking when my car is cold. at first i thought it was just my exhaust hitting the floor of the passenger side. but i did some further investigation and found out my transmission?(see pic) shakes really bad when i can hear the knocking. could it be that the mechanics inside are knocking against the part of the outer casing that has been pushed in by the rock? is it a hard job to get a mate to fix or should i get it done by a pro? im asking cause last time when my harmonic balancer fell off it cost me about 150$ worth of labor. (had a couple of minor things done). anyways here are the pics

thats tranny fluid isnt it?

Looking at the pic I would say it is probably your exhuast or tailshaft that is doing all the complaining. maybe you broke the gearbox mount? see if you can push it up and down from where the tailshaft enters.

There is nothing that moves in teh pan that would knock on it. I too would try the above and see what you would find. Check too see whther you have not got a rock lodged somewhere...

Cheers

If I was a betting man, and if I had any money, I'd be putting a few $$ on a busted or torn rear engine mount (transmission mount). Actually, I'd be spending the $$ on replacing it.

Oh, and DA - I alsmost don't believe it, but I think that was too subtle, coming from you !! :D

How far under the car did the rock travel?
Might have knocked a balance weight of the tailshaft, vibration would be bad at speed?
Would be worth having a look at the shaft as suggested by ChiaLX.
Shouldn't be too hard to see if something is missing, unpainted spot.
