number 14 fronted for the speed event at bathurst over the weekend a full field of 95 cars or thereabouts of all makes and models for both days.
it runs over 2 days the saturday being the conrod straight sprint where 2 cars go at it from the start of the hump till the start line on pitt straight .the car was double entered and did 14 runs.
you can view it here just one of the runs this xd had a fully worked 420cu webered engine in it.it was a work of art.so i reckon the old 308 held up pretty well against it.

and on the sunday after a night of camping and drinking and bullshitting at mcphillamy park the mountain straight hillclimb which starts on the hump and finishes at mcphillamy park and the car did 8 of these.

thankfully the rain lifted just as we started for an incident free weekend.there were a few toranas there.another white hatch which sadly chucked a leg on the saturday and beautiful purple lj that was bloody quick and an excellent original lone oranger lj xu1 that a spectator brought along for the 2 days.

Great videos. I did a few hot laps many years ago in the rain (before the chase). Awesome track but the concrete was getting mighty close at times, and the car suffered with wheel spinning. The clenching of certain parts of my anatomy on those few runs had me in total admiration of people like Jim Richards who seem to be able to lap so well in a rwd car (in the wet).

yes and no tony its just the nature of the beast .you do a good start or a not so good start.thats why the vh is auto, it is purpose built for this sort of stuff,so next year it will be interesting to see how it shapes up.what is encouraging i compared the flying times for the same sections from easter this year.we found we were quicker from the standing start for both these sections so both driver and car must be getting there act together lol so im really looking forward to bathurst next easter.

If you ask Hotrod, as in Rodomo nicely he may fix that up for you Rob.

Or a least give you the secret recipe on how its done ?
