After having driven round in a Torana hatch for about 5 years now, I reckon the hinge in the middle is a waste of time, every bloody time I need something out from under the covers, I need to lift both halves up and quite often I just remove the carpet and take out the whole cover to get things in and out.

When I make my next new set, I will be making it in 1 piece and make it hinge at the front so you lift up the back. Some form of strut or rope or something to hold it up like in a modern hatch back would be useful too.

this is an old thread thats been opened back up again almost 2 years later, I'm sure the original poster is not looking any more, but it's full of useful information so I am going to move it to another area.
