Maybe LX's are 1.0m thick, but I measured the steel thickness on the LH nose cone (stripped) and it indeed measures 1.6mm. I knew LH's were better.

Ive noticed RSP are now selling the T O R A N A badges as a repro?
Are you also supplying retaining sockets/clips with these badges????

No we are not, we have not been able to get any good samples to be able reproduce them.
if anyone has any good samples that we could use to make these we would replace them with new ones once we make them.

Hmmm. Seems to be some confusion here. I saw these on eBay and contacted the seller which is Brisbane rare spares. Here is there reply:,
Hi,
Yes, the letters do come with the retaining clips.
Kind regards,
Andrew

Hi
I dont actually have a picture of the retaining clips. They are a very small cup shaped metal clip that will go into the body and the badge will push into it.
Kind regards,
Andrew

The ones pictured are a mix of mainly NOS ones & a few mint second hand ones. How many would be needed for the purpose of reproducing them. I would like to help if i can but i am reluctant to part with them as i spent years searching high & low for them to use on my SL/R project & i would only be willing to do so if they were returned or replaced with exact the same quality/quantity. Cheers Matt

While I have been doing a little research into Badge pin locations, I have found that the above letter badges that I have do not have the plastic plugs. They have a metal clip similar to the larger badge clips.
Looking through the parts catalogues, they list the following;
LH
1.265 LETTER, CLIP, NAME PLATE, TRANSFER - Front end panel
Clip, Letter: SP2419 Qty 12
12.182 Letter, Plate, Clip,Rear Deck Lid
Clip Letter Attaching: SP2419 Qty 12
LX
1.265 LETTER, CLIP, NAME PLATE, TRANSFER - Front end panel
Clip, Letter: SP2419 Qty 12
12.182 Letter, Plate, Clip,Rear Deck Lid
Clip Letter Attaching: SP2419 Qty 12
Hope this helps...
cheers

My original LH nose cone had the same plastic plugs as shown in the photos posted by LH SLR 3300.
The plugs are inserted into the holes in the nose cone from the front and then the letters were installed. They dont go onto the back of the pins once the letters are fitted into the nose cone as you might suspect. I tried to remove them without damage, but they are hard and brittle, l now have about half a set.

Sorry to resurrect this one but I'm looking for some of these plastic plug inserts. My early hatch has the individual T.O.R.A.N.A letters on the passenger side hatch lid. The letters are retained by the push in plastic type plugs.
Did anything come from the search?
Cheers Scott
