Well, as mentioned in the buy sell thread, there has been mutiny in the welby house hold.
A year ago i bought a Torana 4 Door as a project Sunday Drive Car. it was going to be a 3 year build and end up relatively stock exterior but trhe usual brake suspension and diff upgrade. Nice interior , sounds and aircon would round off the build.
When the old girl turned up, she was so nice and clean i considered turning her into a Targa Racer and using the Hatch as my Sunday car.
Minor hiccup to the plan presented itself as my youngest lad 'claimed' the car as his own.
A quicky deal was done involving high school grades etc and so began a year of valued father-son build time, with the young bloke starting the rebuild process to a slight variation on my original plan.
Fast forward 12 months and the eldest lad is busy chasing a HQ kingswood as a preferred first set of wheels. Nothing arrives but we start kicking tyres on hx - hz 's and all sorts of stuff in between, including the odd UC. As he is not too into the car scene, it's really not too important what we end up with so long as its clean and tidy.
My work taking me away from home being the biggest holdup.
Additionally, i'm still kicking tyres on odd stuff for a Sunday car, without getting too .
So we fall across a forum members 4 Door for sale.
I buy it sight unseen for the eldest , based on its clean rust free appearance.
He's not too fussed, and the young bloke and i pick it up. He thinks its ace, especially the wood grain interior.
It takes a week or so for me to get home and finally get a close look at the new girl and at the insistence of the young bloke, we bolt a set of Hotwires on with some new radials. That's the total plan on any changes.
Unfortunately, i find a bit more rust than initially expected and while it has no bearing on the sale, i've probably gone overboard on explaining to the oldest lad how it needs ro have the rust sorted , quickly.
The sum effect is i've put him right off !
In steps the young bloke. Before i know it, Eldest doesn't want it, youngest claims it and i've got my yellow shell back. I'm down some bucks, Mum thinks i've planned the lot and my eldest still has no wheels.
Days of our lives has had nothing in this week.
So , stay tuned for a new build on the yellow taxi.
New interior is almost on its way,
Engine is stripped down, will be a warm six with tripples.
The front end K frame from the hatch will find its way underneath and a new K frame is being built for the hatch ( with Datto brakes, so we can all see what he would do if he had his way )
Absynth yellow is still the planned colour, no decision on what sort of blackouts or highlighting .
Wheels probably 15 inch hotwires, but may end up 17's if i can find something that takes my fancy
Diff planned to be the BW but i may do a banjo with UC brake conversion and a new LSD if i can pull that deal off. We'll see.
Flares and drop tank are sitting here from the young blokes plans, but undecided if they will go on yet.
let me know your thoughts...
Now where the frOck is santa ?

bent column
If that was bent just a tad further you could have a left hand drive car...without moving the steering over.

Pull the plastic cover from the column & straighten the webbed bit by hand. It moves easily.
The shaft still looks straight.

That column is toast, your kids well being is at hand, dump it and get a good one that will collapse correctly should the worst happen.Pull the plastic cover from the column & straighten the webbed bit by hand. It moves easily.
