Headers to fit VK EFI manifold in LC

I'm using some modified 9 port, red motor extractors at the moment that I just doggied up to get it going.
I'm after a decent set now. Does anyone know if there is a particular brand to suit 12 port head with VK EFI inlet manifold, that will fit straight in, or at worst need only a little modification?
I remember reading in the old forum that possible the headers that Castle Auto Electrics & Exhaust Services in Vic will fit without any mods.
Does anyone know if this is true. I rang them today, but they were not sure if it will clear the EFI manifold.
Cheers Cham

Starts up easy, no idling probs
Runs smooth, other than moderate cam i'm using
Very happy with the power it seems to have, haven't done hardly any tuning yet. I think once I have a decent set of headers, run it a little longer and get it dyno'd, it'll be sweet!

as far as the extractors go, i reckon its going to be a bit of a hit and miss deal, people will probably be able to tell you if they fit the efi manifold but not in an LC/LJ ......
i'd look at getting your current extractors sorted out by an exhaust place, might be cheaper than getting a whole new set of pipes.
as far as performance and drivability goes with the EFI, theres no comparison to the 350 holley i had previous. ....
economy in my car has been pretty good, my torana gets from 10-15L/100km depending on city/highway and also depends if im driving it or not
but my car has a celica 5 speed, 3.08:1 diff ratio and 225/60/13 tyres so these factors may contribute to better economy too ... either way it was a good 1-2L/100km's saved from EFI.

i'd recommend getting your exhaust shop to order them in on the proviso that they can be returned to pacemaker if they foul on the EFI manifold. (thats what i did)
I'd steer clear of the castle autos pipes.. PM me if you want to see why!

So far this is what I have found out from exhaust shops and manufactures:
Pacemakers - won't clear the inlet manifold plus has heat risers that need welding up (if not required).
Genie - won't clear the inlet manifold.
CastleAuto - The bloke I spoke to says he can't see why they wouldn't fit but couldn't guarentee it. J-Rod PM sent.
The exhaust place tried a few other manufactures, and none of them would fit either.
I'll prob try to mod a set of pacemakers, or see if I can buy a cheap secondhand set to suit 12 port head somewhere.
I'll keep trying...

have a look at the pacemaker site:
http://www.pacemaker...6cyl_lc-uc.html
The 5008's fit with some minor filing of the flanges on the inlet manifold.. none of the runners will foul.
here they are with the EFI inlet:

What part number are they? Are they 'PH 5008 - ENGINE SWAP' (from Pacemaker website)
EDIT:- J-Rod thanks for the pic and info. How long ago did you get those headers, I've also heard that Pacemakers used to fit, but then they changed the design slightly (to give more clearence for the starter motor) and now they don't.
It was Pacemaker themselves that told me that they won't fit.
But I guess the proof is in the picture (unless they are the old design?? )... Thanks
Cheers...

Yep, i have those PH 5008 extractors. I guess there's no need for me to go out in the garage and take a photo - thanks to J-Rod.Some pics would be great LHoon

I used the standard VK extractors for a while too - they just required a minor modification near the bottom.

LHoon: Thanks mate, yeah don't go out in the cold, think I'll go with the 5008's.
J-Rod: You have a PM. Thanks heaps for the info and pics.
Still one last question, just to confirm things, how long ago did you guys (LHoon & J-Rod) get you 5008 headers. Just in case they HAVE changed the design lately.
Thanks heaps guys...
THIS IS SUCH A GREAT SITE....

I heard that they wouldn't fit as well, but I bought them anyway. I was just going to modify whatever hit. But when i tried them, there was no problem at all. I didn't even need to file back the manifold!

is this at the flywheel or wheels ? eitherway its a fair bit of power for a 202 ....I had the pacemakers on my 202 and fitted fine but recently upgraded to a custom made set that seem to work better, i also used the standard plenum for a while but now have made a twin throttle body set up, all run by a motec ecu. This set up made 295 hp on pulp.

Got brand new set of 5008 headers, and it fouls the inlet manifold on the nr 6 exhaust pipe (maybe this is due to the rumoured NEW design???).
I've left an old 12 port head, VK EFI manifold and the new headers with the exhaust shop to mod the nr 6 pipe for me. It hits it by about 1/2 an inch or so.
....BUGGER

i've had the same problem as you can see from this pic, also i've had other brands of extractors that are fine on #6 but hit on #1 .... genie red extractors which i modified to suit my 12 port head had the same issue, it wasn't so bad, we were able to tap a small bit of the pipe down for it to clear (like 5mm)

Finally managed to ge them in. Just have to connect up fuel and couple of wires again, then I'm done.
Cheers
