The weight of the rider has a more significant effect on the power to weight of a bike than the weight of the driver has to the power to weight of a car. Once you add a rider and driver the F1 car would probably be in front on power to weight.

Power to weight, the bike wins.

Add more than 4 corners on a track and the F1 flogs a bike.

You know your bikes :)

Ahh yes, absolute MotoGP, WSBK, BSB, IoM enthusiast.

That is an awesome bike mate. How is the V4? Gotta love the note.

It's like a 1000cc 2stoke , the noise through to 14000rpm is like the devil chasing you , it goes right through your body , the power delivery is out of control , it's unlike anything I have riden or driven .

How does the chassis feel around the tracks such as PI where you need a bit of flex? Gotta applaud Ducati for doing that for the fans though.

Needs to be riden hard , the bike doesn't start working untill arround 1:44 at PI and 1:42 at the Creek , it's as stiff as a wooden park bench before that , that's why there have been lots throwing down the road at the track , lots think it dose it all for you being what it is ,You need to work hard on it , it will buck you off in a heart beat if you relax , I hated it until I got it singing , now it just floats on the track . It's hard to explain .

I understand exactly what you mean, I've heard of blokes with literally 1-2 track days experience getting full Ohlins Suspension and binning it easily because it had no give... Uhhh Yeah mate, you bought suspension to be used at the peak of the sport, not ridden like a CT110.

I agree with above, a video at all?

As MRLXSS said; 550hp is a big number (I assume you are talking fwhp here too) - that is about 410kwkw and I've not seen numbers in this field from N/A LS series motors including L98/LS2/LS3. I'd be suspicious of a 550fwhp N/A number from a VZ L76 - even fancy/expensive Nathan Higgins heads don't seem to flow as well/produce as much hp as OEM L98 heads. Heck I'd doubt that number from a LS3... Not saying it cannot be done, but if you go through the hp threads in the LS1 forum sponsor's section, I reckon you'd be hard pressed to find anything N/A on pump fuel near 550fwhp/500rwhp (roughly 40kw change in badged fwkw to dyno'd rwkw hp in LS engines it seems). - http://www.ls1.com.a...formance-Centre

Mind you, I welcome your attempt and hope ever so much that you reach your goal - it will be a wild car what with only 1200-1300kg to cart around.

Cheers, TB

I see what your saying here TB 550HP is a big number, must be using a hydraulic roller cam too if its going to be trying to make 550hp with hydraulic lifters..i could be wrong here but sounds a bit optamistic.

Power to weight, the bike wins.

205 hp bike. Weight 156 kg
205 / 156 = 1.31 hp per kg

205 hp bike. Weight 156 kg + Rider 70 kg
205 / 226 = 0.90 hp per kg

Figures from Wiki for 2006 F1. I don't know if they are actually correct.
http://en.wikipedia....Formula_One_car

960 hp 2006 F1. Regulation minimum weight including driver 640 kg.
960 / 640 = 1.48 hp per kg.

Well if you are going to compare the F1 of 2006, GP bike of 2006. 148 kg/237HP. 1.6HP/kg.

Not to mention these are rear wheel figures on the bikes.

The reduction in capacity was designed to give a power reduction of around 20% from the three litre engines, to reduce the increasing speeds of Formula One cars. However in many cases, performance of the car improved. In 2006 Toyota F1 announced an approximate 740 hp (552 kW) output at 19000 rpm for its new RVX-06 engine,[12] but real figures are of course difficult to obtain.

From Wiki.

It was not my idea to compare the bike with a 2006 F1.

I ride a bike that has 205hp SAE corrected on 98 pump fuel at 156kg that’s over 1280hp/t more the 2006 F1 at 1250 hp/t

I only pointed out that while the figures may be close without a rider once you add a rider to the bike is not in the same ballpark as a 2006 F1 car.

In any case, it’s not about bike against car; it was all about my experience with power. All I was trying to determine was how she will behave .I know Cars are much quicker in a track environment A1’s circulate Eastern Creek in around 1:19 and the best bike has been 1:29 ish .

It will have hydraulic lifters and roller cam .Optimistic or not I think from what I have been told and seen in his shop I’m ok with that ,going by the performance of the twin engine I’m pretty confident .

But heck I’m still learning all about this engine building stuff. This will be my first engine and based on what it has cost me on parts and machining, taking into account most from came the states I feel sure it’s going to be a strong engine and that’s what I want, bullet proof. Knowing very well I’m not mechanically sympathetic, more than likely it will end up with a piston or two going in their own direction.

I’m just trying to understand a little more about the engines do’s and don’ts and gaining some more experience through others .
Backing it into turn 5 Eastern Creek :)

Nice mate, I love the Bayliss tribute from 2004 era (Unless that's your racing number, I know Bayliss is 21 but John Hopkins was in the 990cc Championship and had that number already so Bayliss changed to 12 for 2004 and 2005, and that awesome race in 2006 Valencia when he and Loris Capirossi took a 1-2 win). Looks beautiful.

ls2lxhatch: Yeah fair enough mate, wasn't trying to be a smartarse etc. Both are the pinnacles of their respectful genre.

Mate looking at it honestly to get up to and over the 500HP mark its going to at least need a solid roller and a bigger carb then a 750 holly..out of interest who is building this engine for you?

A bigger carb definitely but Hydraulic rollers have been used on many 500+HP motors. Many.

Very nice mate! 1098S? Club racer mate? What grade?

I'd love to do club racing on the Honda Blade, but I was considering getting a stat write off 1198 and build it up as a track bike as my next project after the Torana.

Yes they have but not on this type of engine..maybe on bigger cube chevs that can make that sort of power within a 6500rpm rev ceiling..but we are talking about a naturally aspirated and carbed VZ engine here.
