Both my 6 & 8 slr dont have them & i have a brand new factory trim for the v8 from memory i think it was a option when i ordred the trim kit but i like the clean painted look.... your car your choice
Im with you BIG , I think it looks cleen , I particularly dont like the way it finishes in the door .

no tony, the rust cometh from underneath.condensation rises up and sits under there .rusts in and outside the door.just somthing i noticed.
Ahhh, that makes sense Nev. Vinyl or no vinyl, just gotta make sure the drain holes are clear
Oh, and to answer the original question I reckon the vinyl suits SL but not the racing or base models.

Did all models have door toppers? or only some.
No not all, all SL/R/SS came with the vinyl door tops though. If you're going to spend the money to do a replica SL/R/SS interior then imo you need the vinyl tops or it just doesnt look right.

On the asthetic side I dont mind the paint but no other part of the interior has the exterior paint colour to compliment
it other than the doors window.
I would say any Torrie that had the black painted window frames should have the vinyl top doors.

Mine has original vinyl that's stacked up very well over the years, I've seen others hit it with vinyl paint and it looks as good as new.The vinyl does't hold the heat for as long as the painted look
.
.... so you can assume the patented Holden 'gutter grip' much sooner!
Haven't seen that one, how's it go?

Obviously how good the vinyl tops will look will depend on the skill of the trimmer, especially how well the window rubbers etc are refitted later and whether the glue used doesnt suffer in the heat..
