I have a 308 in my hatch with the engine number starting with 11WT. The 11 appears to be stamped in a different type to rest of the number. I understand that this designates that it was for a Statesman. Was this stamped at the factory? and what does it really mean. Was there something special done to these engines? I presume that it is a WB block, which means that it is a blue motor, is this right?

The 11 prefix means it was originally made for a Statesman. I don't think there was anything special to these blocks. Others can confirm.

Didn't the 11 mean it was a turbo 400 bolt pattern?

I have a aussie pattern 308 stamped with the 11# prefix.

H prefix is from HT,G
QT and 11QT are from HQ,J,X,Z
HT is Torana prefix
HZ is L34 torana

Hi Guys.

The 11 prefix means it was fitted to a Statesman on the assembly line. That's any Statesman from HQ to WB.

HQ 308 were Aussie pattern blocks, & the 11 was also stamped on 253 V8 blocks as 11QR & 202 Statesmans has 11QL. So as you can see it's got nothing to do with Chev 'Turbo' patterned blocks.

Thanks for the info. I have an 11QT numbered block which is a turbo pattern and just assumed thats what it meant.
