I do recgonise that it is a complete car.
The one im looking at has a very straight body and if he has the console and other bits and pieces its a good buy.
Also its fairly close to home which is an advantage
thanks ryan

Hi Ryan,Y do you say that??

It is most definitely a good buy. My advice is based on your previous posts indicating you were still finishing school and this was your first car. It will take a really good job to get this car to a point where you can drive it. Sometimes it is better to save up a little more and buy something you can slowly fix up while still driving it. The cost of all the bits and pieces adds up quickly as i have found out over the years. As long as you have considered this then you have made an educated decision. Nothing more.

you have a pic of a hatch with a vinal roof, love to see it posted here.http://www.gmh-torana.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1820&hl=The EXSL bit was a hatch. 4.2 SL M20 - green with a beige vinyl roof. I must say that I am ashamed as I took very few photos of it. Still, it was a good car and in a way I wish I still had it. Very little rust when I traded it on a VC 4.2 Commo.

Your views on the cost of parts is very valid as i have been researching, and have seen that parts are very expensive if u can't pick them up second hand, but in saying that i will be able to get most parts second hand if i got about a year or a bit less hopefully before she will be on the road.

Is there a possibility of a sedan console to fit. Im in no rush just peace of mind.
He is going to get some extra parts from under his mates house and is willing to take less if he see some cash. lol
I offered $800 last time and he was preety good about it.
thanks ryan

As for the console, look, you can put in a Torrie sedan console,
even a Kingswood one! You can often get a cheap one in the Kingswood
sections on ebay.
In the mean time, if you find a hatch one, with the flared bit around
the air vents all the better. Hell even if you find a busted one, you can fit
it and repair it pretty easily. Now that's something I could help you with!
Wish you the best on your project. I felt a bit bad as I was in the process
of buying that one in VIC as we were discussing your find. But I think you
understand now how hard they are to come by!!
Now that I think more about it, the cruize over to Wooly will be a nice run.
Cheers, Leakey

My dad is just going to show the photos to one of his mates that has done up a torrie before and has a 454 Ford escort (capri) drag car, he has it running on nitros to. lol.
But yea should be all good.
The guy fitted wheels to it. We got the hatch off and it was all fairly straight, did have the silver trim for around the door/windows. Also door trim that are buggered but still, rear seats, lots of other bits and pieces like bonnet hinges.

Oh, and Liam, yeah that looks like a nice clean car too. There is a mandarine red
sedan in Mordialloc (VIC), at T.McGuigan Motors. Super straight, 2850, 3 on tree
and factory aircon set up. Bit pricey for what it is at $1900.00 But it does have long
rego' and is in A1 nick. Trev - 0417 056 444 (its on Trading post)

Hey,253ToranaSS, how long did it take you to build your car, and what does it have etc
I got the car when i was 16 i think and slowly built it up in the carport over 2 years....
i knew almost nothing when i started, i welded up the rust, resprayed the car, took the old engine out, put a rebuilt 253 in it etc... Did the majority of hte work myself with the help of lots of friends off this forum......
I got it registered about 2 months after i turned 18...
Now its running a 253 Stroker.. Stroked to 290ci Balanced and blue printed, Elec dizzy, Brand spanking new Quadrajet! Dual Exhaust... ummm M21 gearbox...... Im getting a set of extractors soon for it, and also some L34 heads to make it breath better! after that ill dyno tune the beast and hopefully be able to pull a low 14qtr!
