Gday fellas long time no see, i am in the market for wheels, and hav decided to purchase some convo pros 15 x 10's on front and back. I know there will be issue with getting them to fit, so what will i have to do to make em fit, is mini tubbing easy or what?? Also would i be more benificial to have 15 x 8's on front??

Cheers fellas.

Dont quote me on this, but there is no way that youll fit 10s on the front, and be able to turn.

15x10 rear and 15x8 front should work pretty good though, i know plenty of cars that have this combo and work well.

You can fit 10" on the front with flares but would have to get real small profile tyres e.g 30,35 profile. From memory I think Glenn had 10s on the front of his A9X and I'm pretty sure I've seen them somewhere else as well, but without flares forget it and A9X flares come in handy as they are bigger on the back so you can run 295s with ease.I'm not 100% sure on some of this so if I'm wrong please don't shoot me. :D

Just one more thing, the 10" wheels are not legal for the road at least in victoria so 8" wheels would be the easier and cheaper option for the rims and tyres as well but otherwise go for it.

Yeah i would just go an 8 Inch rim on the front.... There are no extra benifits of having a 10inch rim on the front as you couldnt take the full potential of the tyres sizes, get some 8inch wide ones and fit 245's or 265's on the front (Will be a pain in the arse to steer tho!!

Will look Mint Though!~

If your running flares run 8's on the front and 10-11's on the rear.
If your not flared and not tubbed run 7's on the front and 9's on the rear.

Tubbed and you can run whatever you please on the rear.

I think for the road 295 is sufficient.Glens ultrablue A9X i think had 345 on the back with some modifications done to fit then, not 100%sure on that info. But 345 thats MAD!!

Doesn't LXCHEV have these wheels, or timotorrie? If they do you could try getting a hold of them

LXCHEV does run these wheel but I am unsure of the offset or the width. Personally for teh road I would nto go any bigger than 245 but that is just me, I like having car control not aquaplaning on the rear I find the this leads to many many rims getting detroyed, not to mention egos...:S nto many will agree that an increase in tire width can actually reduce traction...

Oh not to mention the increased drag and thus increased fuel consumption.. :S

Cheers

Yes I do have Convo Pro's on my LX, the reason I haven't commented though is because mine are only 15 x 4's (front) and 15 x 8.5's (rear), so no where near as fat as what LX Torry Freak is planning to run. My car is flared, and I could easily fit a 10" wide rim on the back if I wanted to, but that would rule out fitting my super low springs ever again.

(I run 2 different sets of wheels on mine, and have 2 sets of different rear springs). If I have my 8.5" Convo's on, I can run my super low springs and it looks ace and doesn't scrub (because all the offset goes inwards). If I run my 9.25" wide Hotwires though, I have to run taller springs again because these sit out heaps wider and scrub a lot easier.

Let us know what you end up doing and how you go with it.

Cheers.

Thanks tiimbo, so i basically need to have the right height, a shorter diff and i should be right? I was planning on putting something upwards of that size on how much did your wheels and tyre combo cost.

the wheels cost me around 1400 bucks but that was a bout 4 years ago now, plus i got them drilled to torana stud pattern at the factory so they only have the five holes in the rim
my front tyres cost me nothin and my rears cost me two hundred bucks! both new!

I have 15x10 convo's on the rear of my hatch.
5" back spacing on standard torana width diff under flares
Posted Image

they sit really nice under the flares with 50mm lowered king springs
the fronts are 15x7 with 3 3/8 back spacing with 225/50 tyres.
if i was doing it again i would have gone for 8 1/2 rims with the same tyre and back spacing
hope this helps

Damo that looks a bit deep for a 5" B/S... but it could just be the angle.

Posted Image
These are 15x4's and 15x8.5's, with a 3 3/8" B/S on the rears.
In torrie pattern.

just the angle-definately 5" back spacing.would have loved 3 3/8 for the back, but they would have been out side the flares or i would have to get the diff shortend another 1 1/2"

Timbo,
I would suggest some 215s for the front if there are no clearance issues.
Drive a little bit spirited and the 195s on 7" rims have more likelihood of stripping off.

Not with flares dude, I ran 245s on the front with ease.

With drag slicks, if you have say a 10" wide slick, do you want a 10" rim or do u want smaller. I notice that alot of drag ppl seem to run a narrower rim than tyre so it bags out more. Is this disireable?

i did have 225s on it before but have changed the suspension a bit and now has hz brakes aswell which dropped it down a bit more due to the stub axle being different, and they hit the flare, i got the 195s for nothing so on they went!

with soft suspension and big and little tyres i dont go round corners quick anymore!
it has soft springs and 90/10s in the front!
