I have seen 2 different heater setups on LC-J's one with the big fibreglass heater box and one with a small folded steel one like on red6's LC.
does anyone have other pictures/information on the setup like red6's?
I like the look of it better and I might do dads LC like that because it has nothing at the moment.
cheers,
Makka

The folded ones are usually no fan assist heaters. If you wish to clear windscreens and generally pump warm air on a still morning when at lights I would get a fan assisted one.

Hi Guys.
The folded steel panel is from a '69 LC Torana. It's just a panel fitted to direct fresh air into the cabin when NO HEATER is fitted.
These early pre-ADR cars had no heater unless they were an SL or GTR.
There is another type of heater for pre-ADR cars without a fan, but these still have 2 water hoses.
AFAIK it is illegal to remove the motorised heater/demister out of a Torana made after 1/70.
Dr Terry.

I think you're right, Doc. I'm pretty sur it's ADR 15 which specifies that warm air must be directable onto the windscreen to demist it.
From the DOTARS website -
ADR 15 - Demisting of Windscreen
The function of this Australian Design Rule is to specify requirements for standards for equipment to maintain the windscreen clear of `Mist` so that driver's `Forward` vision is not obscured.

my '70 Lc had no heater only vent when i bought it
since then i've aquired both types

I believe Shevster has the heater like the one above with a heater core in it.
My SL and S (73 cars) both have the full box, as does my mates 70 LC S.

funny what you can find on these forums when you start looking...my Lc 2 door as pictured has no heater at all which is pretty annoying considering it hit 1 degree here last night. My other car an Lc 4 door had the samee set up but had a heater core mounted behind the box/panel you are talking about with two houses leading into/out of it and a switch in the hose going into the core so you could stop the flow and restrict the flow, not an ideal set up but it did the job provided you were moving.
