Just had an awesome morning today. Had a ride with Garth Tander in HRT's ride car at Barbagallo. I must say it was the single most fun I've ever had on 4 wheels. I cant get over how quick those cars stop and turn. My biggest gripe is Barbagallo has a quick lap time so the ride didnt last too long. They are just so much faster than what they appear on TV and watching from the trackside. Anyway, thought I'd post up the video - thats me in the back seat, would have been great to get the front but theres no way I'd knock the ride back.

you can tell how tight they (the professional drivers) have their belts by looking at how little Garth moves in the seat compared to his 2 passengers.

cheers for sharing, I noticed Garth didn't seem to be working the wheel to hard, is it true that they only drive 9/10s with passengers

I gotta admit the drivers must have their belts very tight, mine was quite firm and I still moved around a fair bit. But I suppose the drivers have a steering wheel to hang onto so that would stabilize them to a degree. Maybe they go 9/10's because the extra weight of passengers slows them down slightly - certainly apeared race pace from where I was sitting - the brake points, revs and gears certinly seemed to be the similar to what Ive seen on tv during races

From the Cams book we use at Kuhmo V8 race weekends

No competition driving may take place. The vehicle must be kept to significantly less than competition speeds.

Not everyone follows this though :)

As an example I was a passenger in a Radical sports car that did a 1.32 at Eastern Creek. That's fast!!

Great opportunity to get in a V8 Supercar with a top level driver like Garth Tander. Jealous lots.
