I dont think your latch was coming back enough.

Thanks everyone, I had a play today and set it quite tight so its pulled down onto the rubbers at either side of the bay.
Went for a drive and altho was only a short one I "aimed" for all the big bumps and it stayed shut...
So it may be sorted
will keep an eye on it.
I think my latch is that far across as well (as the above pic) it cant go any further as it hits in the are where the return spring is attached.
