Can any info be gained from an engine number. eg; HT61095.
Does the 6 mean any thing? Is it the 61095th 308? Can or did they make HT and QT engines with the same numerical number, eg HT61095 and QT61095?

Hi aqua.

The HT number is unique to Torana 308s. The 61095 serial number is sequencial for Torana 6/V8 engines only (i.e. does not include HQ/J etc or 1900s). That serial number makes it an early LX block (Non-ADR27A). The 1st LX 308 motor was about 56000. The block's casting date would also give an indicator to its origin.
