Nobody has actually said anything negative to this kid, except that he needs to re-evaluate what his car is worth...

Hi Skapinad, it just seem a bit nasty to quote gramma faults in his posts and I do agree with the older guys it was definitely worth more complete then in pieces, cheers Aaron.

Its a lesson we all learn, but when it comes down to it its worth what someone will pay for it.

Wot offered $2 so its worth at least that. :spoton:

Unfortunately hard work does not always lead to a higher value, and it is true that a running, registered car is worth more than a shell + parts (usually).

dads thinking about letting me keep it!!!!!!!!!!! yeahhhhhhh, where obviously not going to get our money back so it would be better to let it sit in the shed until we find time for it.

Modern bog is much better than lead wiping anyway.

In this day and age insisting on lead wiping your car is much like insisting your new house is built with asbestos sheeting.

What the OP fails to understand, and a few punters going by the comments, is that a lot of us arnt much older than him, and most of the young blokes commenting in here started with there cars at 14 or so.

Remember the thread Rimjob started a few months ago apologizing for how he was when he first joined up hehe, then the rest of us jumped in and went "yeah, um, yeah ok we were dickheads" Just how it is and part of growing up.

Simple fact. A car thats complete in ANY condition will pull more cash than one thats pulled apart and naked.

Spend $30 on 4lt of black etc, blow it over the body work as it sits, and put the car back together. You will triple the amount you will get for it.

Its not right, i agree, but its how it is.

Cheers.

good to hear u might be keeping it mate. old cars are gunna need alot of work which means alot of time so dont expect it to be done quike. for cost you can fab up alot of your own repair panels etc. like bomber said lead wiping is dead and imo worse than bog. more weight, dangerous to work with and has been known to crack. people get away with an inch of bog for 10yrs some times and is easier to work with. i was like you at the start. it had to be done like this ,like that. panels can be straightened by hand without bog etc etc. as you build cars and finish them you soon learn its all crap. these days due to money time and alot of other projects its simply a time to looks ratio. i dont agree with to much bog but every car has it. trick is listen to us old farts that have spent years honing how to get every thing done with great results with less sweat and time. if a project moves fast people stay interested longer.

I could be wrong but perhaps mitchell meant "old school influenced builder"
But who cares he is 15 & up to his guts in nuts. Go hard mate have fun, learn heaps, spend time with your old man on the tricky bits. Not everyones advice can be taken because everyone has a different opinion. keep up the good work.
I agree with bomber, lead is dangerous & not as effective as a plastic body filler. None of us want to hear your in hospital with your organs shutting down because you accidentally got lead poisoning.
Stay safe
Pete.

lol good to see im not forgotten there was a mention of me somewere i came on this forum when i was 15 as well now im 21 and have matured quiet a fair bit... if you listen to these guys they are actually quiet correct and true with there point's if i had of listened right from the start my torana would probably be done or nearing completion instead i went and did my own thing and got sidetracked with other builds, but its good to see young guys taking on these old cars and restoring them. also good to hear you sold it for around the money you wanted.

post up a thread of the other builds?

It wont be long...the guy who has it owns several really tidy HDs that he has rebuilt himself.
