173 or 202??

i am doing my torrie atm and just realised when i took the heads off that it is a 173 and not a 202 as i origianally thought..... do i keep the 173 or go a 202 what will be quicker.. sorry if this has been posted but i couldnt find another

Are you saying the head is off a 202 or the block is a 202? A 202 has more grunt than a 173, particularly lower down.

also would a 202 efi out of a vk fit straight into a uc torana ?? would i need an engineers in vic??? any response is much appreciated.... Ur thoughts??

You would have to enquire with your local registration authorities to see what you require to put a EFI 202 in. Being a later model motor you may have to comply with the later pollution regs, and while the motor itself will bolt in without too much drama the different manifold setup and associated bits may foul some of the existing engine bay hardware. It should be doable with a little planning and money$$$$

I would be going with the 202 over the 173... More torque i would reckon, better around town... funily enough thats what i will be doing with my LJ... pulling the 173 out and sticking a nice warm 202 in :spoton:

go a 202, you shouldnt have a problem finding a cheap one. we have 2 186's and a 202 at home and they cost a total of about $150 with two 4 speeds!

does someone know a heap about 202's?? if so can u plz call me on 0433199152 asap or sms me and i will call back got questions n need some answers im sure someone can help me out lookn @ an engine but got some q's need someone to answer befor i buy thanx heaps guys
