I decided to get a 4x4 and set it up for some fishing camping and some off road action, so I brought a gu patrol 2006. It came with a standard alloy tray and this is one of the first things o the list to change! Had a look around but the steel trays are bloody pricy especially if you want something a little custom so I decided to build my own. Here are some pics, it’s not finished yet but it’s starting to get there.
yes i know i should be spending the time on the torry but all in time!!!!!!!!

that is cooooooool!!! you make it look easy, too bad i already have one otherwise i would love to make my own.

they are very expensive i know what you mean, i think mine cost the previous owner 3k. whats even funnier is they charge 400 or so a pop for the drop sides. what did you use for yours so i can make some of my own?

TL engineering fold them up and supply all the brackets you have to weld them together 190+ per side...i was going to get second hand ones out of the paper but i needed mine to be 250 high

but if you call a sheet metal place they will bend them for a lot cheaper and then just hunt down the brackets and angle for the ends, the waiting list is pretty lengthy if you are in wa at the sheet joints tl has them ready to go in lengths of 2.4

Well i already have the brackets i would just need to weld some tube on the sides so they can pivot on the tray. How is the side actually folded? do they fold it right around and you just weld the very end parts on?
