Hey guy's i've got a chance to grab some AP Racing 4 spot's with braided lines and 328-330mm rotor's, what i want to know is where the Model number is ??

They are to suit VT-VZ Commodore if that's any help, i want to piss off the bigger rotor's and run smaller 290-300mm rotors as i want to run 15 inch front runners or similar...

Want to fit them to an LX....

I've already done a search and found topic's on AP brake conversion's on Torana's etc, so dont ask me to search cos it doesn't say anything about where to locate the model number on the caliper, i've searched and searched with no luck...

Any help will be greatly appreciated...

Stupid question, why do you need 4 pots with front runners?

Cheers.

A good question Bomber.... and theres no sensible answer
They are unlikely to fit behind the wheel anyway

Anyway
The model number is on the bottom of the caliper

Hi thank's for that, these have a steel or alloy type bracket on tha part underneath where the number is, i might have to take it off and look, it doesn't have any number's in the piston area like in the picture...

Where do i get Stub axles and brackets to bolt up VT-Z brake's to LX Torana Dattoman do you know ??

You don't
You make your own stuff to fit

If we made it too easy everyone would be doing it

Putting up some caliper pictures might help too

They look like CP5200's

I've used them on about 60 customers cars ranging from Commodores to Mustangs
Usually on a 330mm disc

But yes I have used them on a VT disc to fit under 15" wheels on a Mustang that does abit of targa work

Wheel clearance is going to be your issue
You can see the caliper comes out level with the hub face... so you need a wheel with raised mounting boss and lots of room all the way up to the band or its never going to fit

Hey Dattoman, cheer's for that,

I have emailed Race Brakes Sydney and he said he has a 296mm rotor that would suit that caliper, i'm presuming they are a VT type disc or possibly like a VN-VS V8 type i'm not sure i'll email him back and see, i have also emailed Castlemaine Rod Shop to see if they make a stub axle to go from LX to VT disc. i haven't had a reply as yet....

Hey AGGRSV Cheer's mate...

Just a few question's for you...

Are you using AP 4 piston brake's like i posted above in my link's as well or a different caliper ??

How much were the Hadfield Stub axles and what was the fitment and quality like ??

Also what bearing's etc did you use was it all direct bolt up ?? anything need to be modded ??

How much were the 2 peice Disc Rotor's if you dont mind me asking...I'm presuming they are the VT Rotor's in 290'ish mm or are they bigger ??

Have you tried a 15 inch wheel's on there as yet to see if it all clears ??

Also lastly, how is the Track Width ?? Is it wider than standard LX track or wider ??

How do they sit under the car and is there any fouling anywhere ?? As i wont be running Flares so i want to keep it all well within the original gaurds...

Any help will be greatly appreciated...

I think you will find they don't have any left

And that depends what your doing with the rest of the suspension geometry as to which stub you want

A std HQ stub drops the car 1.5-2" .. so a 2" dropped one might cause you some issies
The other guys have Torana stubs set up to take Commodore brakes.... but theres still no telling you can make the caliper fit in the little room you have
Its a tight fit with a 330mm disc... let alone a 296mm

I just recieved an email from CRS this morning saying they can't help me...

I will email Stubtech now and see what they have to say..

So the stub's i'm looking for are they drop axle stub's ? or just standard that go from Torana and accept a VT Hub ??

No idea what you need mate your building the thing

Maybe do some measurements and see if the calipers are actually going to go anywhere near it on your standard stubs first

Ok heard back from Stubtech with this....

Hi,
We do make drop axles (with the correct king pin inclination angle) that will accept the VT mounting hubs that you can purchase and the Commodore calipers with just a minor amount of linishing required on some caliper brackets. We have them in stock at the present time and we send by Australia Post either by registered or normal post (whichever you require).
Please note that CRS is not connected to Hadfields any more, we sold that business eight years ago and CRS no longer produce the axles.
Regards

Rod Hadfield,

I will get some more information from him, The AP's fitted directly up to the VL with just VT Hub's but i wont know how much alteration's if any will be needed on a Torana though until i trial fit them...

Ok Sent Stubtech back an email and he sent back another saying that with these Stub's and VT Hub's, 296x28mm Rotor's and VT 2 piston Caliper's go directly on with very minor linishing of the caliper bracket's...

He said with the 296x28mm Rotor's and VT brakes there is no rubbing or fouling anywhere, they come with all engineering paperwork etc and the cost is $775 including GST...

I know the AP's and big disc's go directly on VT hub's for certain, so i'm presuming they should also go straight on with minor linishing of the caliper bracket's....( Well here's hoping )

Had this setup and found my car to low for my liking. One thing I did change was the lower bolt on the caliper to an allen key as it just touched the wishbone. But the setup was straight forward, the calipers are in trailing position.

Your still going to have to get new caliper brackets anyway
Since your going from 328mm down to 296mm
So make them so they don't foul on anything :)

Hey Mark did you have VT Brakes or AP 4 Piston Brakes with 296mm rotor's ?? Any pic's ??

Did you change them or you still have them on your car...If you changed them, what did you change them too ??

Dattoman, i'm thinking of just using same bracket's but machining down the flat side where the caliper mount's to the bracket, do you think that would work or am i just better off making up some new steel ones....

Cheers guys...

Might run out of metal for the bolt holes that hold the caliper to the bracket
But can't see your brackets from the pic
