I have seen forum entries mention remote brake boosters. I'm not understanding how a brake booster could be remote ie away from the normal position. Can anyone explain how this works or point me to a reference that may be available.
What is a remote brake booster?

Instead of a mechanical input (ie your foot pushing the pedal) the remote booster such as the VH40 uses a hydraulic input and boosts that. This way it can be tucked up under a guard or where ever and just needs the line out of the master cylinder to be plumbed into it and then out of the booster and into the original brake circuit.
HD-HR Holdens used these boosters on disc brake models.

these were common on the old EH HD HR with drum brake, usually mounted on RH front inner. After market for towing, could get VH 44 for disc brakes. I had one on my HD long time ago
