my lh has a roof aerial, whats with them, was it a 80's thing as its an ex show car built in the early 80's. or was it something the race cars had as mine is sorta like an L34 clone. dont know if i should go to the trouble of welding up the hole and have to drill one in the guard or just live with it and get a nicer looking one on the roof. looking at pics on here i have seen a few with and a lot without. whats peoples opinion, look wogish or what.

definately was an 80's thing, I like them but of course if you want original it has to go.

If it's an L34 clone ex-showcar then he won't be going original on it. I reckon they sometimes look hot and sometimes look a bit lousy. If it's an ugly one then you might consider replacing it with a more modern stylish that still fills the same sized hole? Just an option.

I reckon they sorta add character to some Toranas. Having said that, I don't dislike the 80's Australian look, so don't listen to me :P

they look a million dollars on a guard aerial. I deleted my guard aerial and I have got an electronic aerial that sits inside the car.

I would stay with the roof aerial or get an electronic one.
aeropro sell a nice roof aerial

Reminds me of this recent photo. Four torries have the roof aerials. Although hard to see in the pic, I remembered how strange it was taking the pic.

I have a centre roof aerial on my hatch & i think it looks good, but it is a good looking aerial. There are some ugly ones out there aswell, big spring at the base of the aerial

Every one knows aerials with big springs on the bottom of them look best on Brown EH's...but only with a foxtail attached.

roofed ones look okay on some cars but only if they are brand new not rotten looking and not missing peices however i disagree with fastehholden as i prefer my ariels as 2 mounted on the rear 1/4s of a old 60s chevy for that rockaday johnny look hehe

cheers chevy

i had a roof aerial on my SLR and when i got the roof resprayed i couldnt wait to get rid of it as i hated it, i mean it looked nice but i reckon it was the cause of my rust in and around my wind screen and a pillars

Torana's normally rust round there anyway. My first LH had it, the LX I resprayed had it at the bottom of the rear screen, and I'm sure Ole Yella will have it when I redo it. Pretty sure it is not related to the roof mounted aerial.
