Hi all

I understand that there were a number of differences between the standard and XU1 distributors chiefly; cam profile and spring weight. What did these differences mean in terms of performance? Were there any other important differences?

Thanks

Dont know anything specific about the xu1 dizzy, though:
Possibly you are right, the lumpier cam in the xu1 possibly would dictate that less mechanical advance, (more intitial) would be needed and heavier springs used on the centrifugal advance mechanism. Possibly less vacc advance too.

Thanks folks

Needless to say that the original item is as rare as. I was trying to establish what would be needed to replicate as near as possible the original specs. I have seen the heavier XU1 dizzy springs on eBay and I presume that it is possible to get the double spring contact sets.

I suppose the orginal specs would only be of value under racing conditions.

Dunno about the LJ XU-1, but the LC XU-1 dizzy was pretty much the same as the GTR one, except for points with a heavier spring, which I think Bosch still make.

From the LC parts manual,

The dizzy points cam was different for the GTR and XU-1 than the 'stock' sixes, ie GTR and XU-1 shared one type and all others shared another type.

Light counterweight spring was common to all, ie2250, 2600 and 186X, and heavy spring was same as GTR.
