Its a grey area. Regs say there has to be rubber on the pedal for grip but doesn't specify how much etc., some have a little, some have a lot. It is therefore up to the officer who pulled you over as to whether your pedals are illegal or not. Completely bare metal would be illegal.

Peace,

My nephew just got defected for his sports pedals. I have not seen them so I cannot say what type they were or even what condition they were in.
He lives in Canberra, ACT

Cheers

Damn; I'd like to go something sexy without rubber/much rubber on the LX...

I can't say I've really seen many setups or anything.

^thats to coverthe manufacturer's arse if something goes wrong while someone is using them in their riced up Silvia.

personally I dont like them, unless they are real sports pedals (Tilton ect) not autobarn 'sports' pedals

Maybe they have a ring of rubber around each hole which contacts your foot.

Bolt on sports pedals should be illegal due to bad taste!!! They are very try hard rice!!

These ones shown above are legal and are not bolt on. they actually replace the rubber pedal caps. The reason behind these being legal is the fact that the rubber section is raise above the metal. This also means that there is a substantal spacing betwene the rubber and metal. Most aftermarket pedals (bolt on) have the metal raised above the rubber thus producing a slippery surface.

My last car came with these and frankly it was safer to drive with not pedal rubbers than on the bolt on pedals. Yeek why do people do this????

Cheers
