I've had most success with the compressed metal type gasket, regardless of whether the head is cast alloy or cast iron. They defintely last longer than the fibre type gasket.
If the face of the extractors are made badly (i.e. not flat & true) then you may have to resort to using the fibre type gasket, they seem to fill the gaps better in that circumstance.

Never heard of that! Guessing it works ok?Fibre gasket and around 10 good coats of either copper spray or aluminum spray (chrome paint) per side.

gasket, have had no trouble, and have not used any additional
sealants.
