Can anyone advise what the differences are between these lifters? I am particularly interested in total height and location of band.
I have heaps of 202s in bits, but the only 308 I have is assembled and up in pallet racking so a bit of a pain to get down and compare.
Cheers.

FWIW - Lifter bore spacing appears to be approx. the same also.

There are several aftermarket roller lifters on the market for the 308/253 but most require bronze sleeve in the lifter bore as the open roller tip exposes the oil gallery, there are olds/buick roller lifters that fit the correct spacing on the 308/253 with an enclosed roller tip but they will limit lift.
Not sure on the spacing between the 202 and the 308 sorry.

202 and 308 don't use roller lifters OEM.

Cheers, & agreed.
Lift should not be an issue. Lifter bore spacing looks like it should be close, but still needs to be confirmed...
The ones that look likely (I'm looking for pressure lube lifters) seem to be Edge Orifice Lifters. Hence the question here: http://www.gmh-toran...lifters-in-202/
EDIT: Biggest issue may be tie bar location as discussed in a thread about a year or so ago.

the cut away for the roller will not go near the oil gallery either because you are limited by cam journal size.

..., there are Old/Pontiac retro roller lifters that fit the correct spacing on the 308/253 with an enclosed roller tip

Pontiac retro fit roller lifters fit 253 and non roller 308 blocks not sure about the sixes though. I just bought some from Doug Herbert's in the states and the set were just over $300 + postage and they are US made.
Got a brand and part number please?

Hydraulic, solids are a little more but still less than $400 for the set

ive got comp cams endure x roller lifters, solid in a 355, has .711 lift uncovers about 1/4 of the oil hole at full lift but has alreay blocked off the oil gallery before this happens (edge orifice lifters) they are made especialy for the holden v8, got them from summit. was between 4 and 500 a set from memory. in a 308 non roller block if your cam was .675 or less there would be no oil hole uncovering at all, not that it seems to make any differance anyway.
I've been looking at these. They seem to be the cheapest suitable pressure lube solid roller lifters.

Ned , I am also playing with the roller cam thing ,and with all the development that has gone into hydraulic roller profiles I am going this way to try and overcome some issues with these engines,I already have a cam ground up and it looks like ponti/olds lifters will work.Howards lifters are about 400 bucks a set ,I will try a set when i get some spare time.
Also - Mick,
Who ground the cam for you?
Cheers.

Ahhhh, yeah kevin! ,I mean the loss in pressure caused by uncovering the lifter bore gallery if you dont get the correct lifters as ,believe it or not some people have done in the past, then have bearing failures and blame it on the bearings.what is this solid roller oil pressure bleed you speak of?

i have a set of crane cams pressure oiling pin lifters that are apparently for a 308, looks like a sticker rocket put on there. they will definitely work.
buy some for a pontiac/ olds and you will be alright, crower hippo's would be my pick.
