I had a spot inspection done on my shop recently and these DOT blokes said that nothing has changed yet. Goes to show how pathetic this govenment is that approved inspection stations arent informed of rule changes, yet we are the ones who need to abide by them.
Ridiculous.
Long story short - better get my ass in gear and get my LJ mod plated before April it seems.
fitted a 253 to lj torana

I had to change my sump as the 308 in my car was out of a vk commodore and the sump was at the front on it. There maybe another 308 car that has a sump that might fit eg. Hq etc. The hi volume sump that I ended up getting was a tight fit with only around 10-15mm clearence from the crossmember , so not sure if there would be a standard one that would fit.

Pretty sure there's no factory sump that fits. Can buy aftermarket ones.

Doing this conversion at the moment.
The easiest way to go is use HQ engine mounts and a HQ sump the sump it will come close to the back of the X member so trim if you need to. (i took off about 8mm left plenty of room) I've ended up using a ASR comp pan suits my needs

Have some Hurricane extractors that fit well. FOR SALE TOO

Steering , I used a LH inner steering shaft using that will put the 1st knuckle past the block and you won't need to push the base of the steering column over as far . Always work in progress i ended up putting the bottom knuckle as far down as possible and scalloping out the X member.

If you don't go too full on with your combo its pretty straight forward conversion. And this is my way others may disagree.
