Fitting rat trap with modified steering column

G'day,

Just trying to work out a way to get the rat trap functioning with the extra knuckle in the steering column.

The shaft sits in the way of the clutch rod and rubs when the wheel is turned. My only idea was to suspend a steel door bearing from the rat trap bracket and run the rod through it so it clears. But that would mean the rod would have a slight bend in it which should be ok... I think?

Also can the rubber boots that attach to the firewall for the rod to pass through be purchased new?
