Ok who is cashed up?

http://motoring.syd....on-up-for-grabs

SOME OF the most significant cars in Australian motorsport history are officially up for grabs, with car collector Peter Champion deciding to put his huge collection of Peter Brock racecars on the market following a string of health issues.

Australian Muscle Car Magazine Editor Luke West says it’s the “biggest and most significant sale in Australian motor racing history” and, when you look at the collection – which features a range of Bathurst-winning Commodores, Toranas and others – it’s hard to disagree.

Amongst the metal are the first and last Holdens that ‘Peter Perfect’ ever raced at Mount Panorama.

“Champion’s ‘Brock Collection’ comprises some 40 vehicles including the Austin A30, Malboro HDT Toranas and Commodores, Targa rally vehicles and now the infamous, fully-restored Daytona Coupe in which Peter Brock lost his life,” read the announcement.

“The collection closed to the public some 24 months ago and after suffering serious health issues last year, the owner has reached the difficult decision to part with the collection.

“Expressions of interest are being sought for the collection, preferably to be sold as a whole or perhaps individually.”

Champion acknowledged it was an extremely hard decision to reach after so many years.

“The time has come for the collection to move on,” he said. “It has given me and my team many moments of enjoyment and pleasure sharing this with the general public over the years, but the time has come for us to move on.”

The cars are currently housed at Yeppoon, near Rockhampton in Queensland.

For more information, or to lodge an expression of interest, contact the Champions Group’s Heather Allen on 1300 798 405 or at [email protected].

Good afternoon HDT'ers please see the official release regarding the future of Champions Brock Experience.

“The time has come for the collection to move on, it has given myself and my team many moments of enjoyment and pleasure of sharing this collection with the general public over the yea...rs but the time has come for us to move on” says owner Peter Champion.
Champions Brock Collection includes some of the most significant vehicles in Australia’s motor racing history. My choice of cars if I had the $$$$$$'s would be the 1956 Austin A30 Sedan No.179 (Replica) and the 1976 Holden LX Torana SS Hatchback No.05

I would prefer it ALL to go to a museum a bit closer like "Bathurst" but I doubt if there is anyone with the interest in PB to have that amount of money

Barry

Just wondering out loud. When was a 1976 LX SS hatchback ever raced as 05 ? Or raced at all for that matter. It can't have been eligible for Group C.

All V8 Toranas that raced Group C from 74 to mid-77 were L34 sedans. A9X hatchbacks & sedans were raced from that date onwards after they were homologated.

I don't really care what cars in the collection are not the real deal..  There are plenty of cars that are and for those that missed the chance to go to the Champion's Brock Experience, I can only say that it was well worth it for me.

It wasn't only the cars, it was all of the memorability that was housed with the cars as well.

It will be disappointing to see this collection broken up. I know that 18 months ago, it was muted that the collection would be added to the Eastern creek complex as part of the new Museum.

If it does get broken up, there will never be another collection as big anywhere in Australia..

For those that never got there..

regards

Mick

Firstly i would like to wish Peter all the best and I hope his health improves. This is the most important thing.

Secondly i would like to thank Peter and the HDT team for their support for Toranafest  and the Hunter Valley Torana Club over many years.

It will be sad to see such a collection split up.

For most of us owning one of theses cars would be mind blowing.

Good Luck and I can only dream of a quick Lotto win!!!!!!

Regards

pete

Quite a list regardless of the controversy on some. I imagine since they are now being sold they will not make any claims of "what they are", that they can't defend? He obviously has quite a bit of money, so it would be a bit silly to leave himself open to such legal costs as seen with the Fraud GT cases.

Quite a few dollars worth any way that you look at them.

The Graham Hooley A9X 2 door race car started as a gold 1976 ss 5 litre raced in 76 then converted to A9X specs because BM was frightened of the banjo diff car beating him so he protested about racing against it so it was changed to A9X specs

Forget racing, road going torana owners protested about the bango's from new.

Holden spent all of 10c on that engineering marvel and just wanted to get rid of the useless pos ..... LOL

This is what is written on the website about the 1976 SS;

"The first of the mighty hatchback Toranas. This car was Harry Firths personal daily driver. It then became the homologating test car for the HDT. Peter Brock was often spotted testing the car on public roads at night time."

50 million Powerball is tomorrow night. I know what i would like to spend the first chunk of it on!

Only hassle once they are dropped off at my place will be the neighbours complaining about all of the old torana's and Como's sitting on my front lawn! :-) :driving:
