Also just curious but is it likely that these cars will go to the Bowden family?

The Graham Hooley A9X 2 door race car started as a gold 1976 ss 5 litre raced in 76 then converted to A9X specs because BM was frightened of the banjo diff car beating him so he protested about racing against it so it was changed to A9X specs
When he raced it in 1976 as an LX hatch, it can't have had L34 running gear, it must have had a stock L31 specs. Otherwise it wouldn't have been legal.

50 million Powerball is tomorrow night. I know what i would like to spend the first chunk of it on!
Only hassle once they are dropped off at my place will be the neighbours complaining about all of the old torana's and Como's sitting on my front lawn! :-)
The second chunk builds you a front lawn shed with show room windows at the roads edge - very nice. Dave I

This is what is written on the website about the 1976 SS;
"The first of the mighty hatchback Toranas. This car was Harry Firths personal daily driver. It then became the homologating test car for the HDT. Peter Brock was often spotted testing the car on public roads at night time."
Harry.s car is in Mildura and has been for years it is well documented amongst enthusiasts so another faker

Thats why B.M protest was upheld and so the parts were procured and the conversion done. Well thats what Graham told us at the A9X nationals in Perth 3 years ago.

The car PC has is not fake, it's not the prototype though. It's an SS converted by Harry Firth to A9X specs (I guess this is why some people think it's Harrys prototype HF111). I've mentioned it a few times before. It was painted in the marlboro paint scheme, but blue where the Malboro cars were red. It was painted up as a HDT car a few years ago and had Harveys name on the side. John saw the car at a race meeting and complained. Several cars in this collection have similar stories and have been misrepresented. I hope for PC's sake he is careful when he sells them as he will leave himself open. There are a lots of cars floating around out there saying they are something they aren't which is fine until you try and make money from it.

That's the first thought that came to mind as I started reading this thread too.
I'm sure he will snap up most of the genuine ones.........

Was Harry's HF 111 originally Tuxedo Black as I can vaguely remember it in a pic I saw some time ago.
Was going to ask Harry about it, the next time I got to speak to him.
Harry was 95 last April 18 Although I don't think he would be partying too hard these days.

Harveys car was an SS Firth special ordered, I'm sure the log book reflects may or June 77, but Phil Arnel claims his 4 door was log booked as an A9X in 1976, dunno how that works but he had the log books with the dates.

A bit more on the Hatchback, I found the old Authenticity Certificate for the Firth car & it was converted by Harry Firth 27/06/1977 & Log book approved by CAMS for Group C Racing Rules July 1977.
