hey,
Im looking for an manual ecotec V6 for my hatch as most of you's know.
Im in no rush but realise it will be fairly hard to find a manual as everyone buys bloody autos nowadays.

Any suggestions where would be the best place to find one?

I think i might be able to pick up a wreck from Pickles auctions, your thoughts?

thanks ryan

I just sold a manual Ecotec... though it was inside a VT S! :D
You're right, they're pretty thin on the ground - remember, the only Manual commodores you can buy are Executive, S & SS (SV6 & SV8 now, but that doesn't help you) - As the Exec's are generally fleet cars, the majority of them are auto's, and even in the S, most are auto's....I had a hell of a time finding a manual!
I did find though that of the few manuals that did come up, most were in either Melbourne or Brisbane....very few in Sydney.

Second hand VR (I think the ecotec was in the VR?), VS, & VT commodores are going pretty cheaply these days - maybe you can find a whole car, take all the bit's you need, then wreck what's left.... in the end, it would probably end up costing less anyway...there's a big market for second hand commodore bit's!

Good Luck!

Yea thats a thought too. Hopefully i will find a wreck with a good engine then i can still sell some of the parts.

Last week there was a VT ute up at pickles but all the front was crushed. SO hopefully someone with a manual will get T boned lol.

thanks ryan

Good luck, i say just keep your eyes out at wreckers etc.... and try auctions etc, you might pick up a car with lots of other gooides that you can use! Maybe put a commodore interior in it!

The T5 box ranges from $1500-$3000 im pretty sure, they're good boxes, but I have also herd a bad story, maybe that was crap, an EcoTech engine shouldn't be to hard to find, have you checked eBay?
