anyone installed one of these yet? www.wiringlooms.com/Products/EPAS/ they have a qld agent selling them http://www.ultimatep...stems/epas-kits and for $1300 for a collapsible setup I am almost tempted. Whats your thoughts? I like the idea there is no pump etc visible

The main problem with this style of kit on any car is that you still have the slow manual steering rack ratio. I also doubt you will find the space under the dash to fit the kit in a Torana.

You can run a remote electric power steering pump if you want to hide the pump for a powered rack.

I had a customer that couldn't wait for me to make him a rack for his Torana racing car, he fitted one simular to link above unsure if it was the same brand, but after two races he pulled it out and ordered a kit from me. He also used an electric power steering pump not sure from which model vehicle, but I do remember it was from a Benz. He emailed back soon after its first race saying how well my rack worked on the race track. He went on to say the previous unit felt dangerious at speed and to light with very little feed back. His words not mine.

I've looked at that type before

There was even a thread on electric power steer

Lots of OE cars using it , Barina,VW,Audi,Merc etc

Its big in Europe and theres a couple of companies doing kits for escorts

I've seen a kit fitted to a Datsun 240/260Z and it drove real nice... didn't get over 160 though

Certainly something worth researching I think

Alternator fails and the first sign is heavy steering. Diesel Astras, and late Corollas (amongst others) have this poo fitted.

A wheel speed sensor is optional to counter lightness at speed. I like the idea, reasonable price too.
