The owner I knew bought the car from the original owner at Lang Lang. He was an employee of GMH.

The holes were drilled by the original owner simply because he wanted to.

I got this information 7 years ago when I first saw the car at the All GM Day at Frankston.

My son's LCGTR that we had restored together won the first prise and the owner was not amused. Although I must say he was a very nice guy. He lived in Cranbourne Vic and ran a printing business.

G'day John

You said

That is why I don't like my car being in any judging as it can get bitchy if some one thinks they are going to win and don't

I can understand why your son's car won as I know the sort of job you would have done on it.

Personal choice if you don't like or do like the handles with the holes drilled in them.
Back then (70s) it would have been cool to have some thing like that done to your car.

But now, restorations back to original seem to be the norm.

Regards...............................Barry
