Can anyone enlighten me as to where the temperature sender is supposed to be situated (std factory position) on an LC GTR.
Manifold side 3/4 way down towards the rear of the head??
Front of engine into the thermostate housing??
Elsewhere??
I've got a 4 door 1971 'S' model with a GTR dash (ie. guages) and depending on where I install the temp sender I get different temp readings.
Cheers

Option A, above the manifold on the head.
Thats where mine is, anyway.

I maybe wrong but i think the earlier Toranas had them in the Thermostate housing, like early LC and the later ones had them down beside the inlet manifold like late LC LJ etc.

The guages I'm using are out of a '69 model and the best place as far as showing a normal temperature (180F) is in the thermostate housing, so that would tie in with Steve's theory.

The LC Heater Hoses were also different to the LJs comming out on the drivers side of the engine, which i think ment a different thermostate housing. The LC heater hoses then crossed over the rocker cover to get to the heater! Pretty silly IMHO.
I don't know if this was changed for later LCs.
LJs heater hoses come out on the passenger side of the thermostate housing.
Maybe this could indicate a difference in location of temp sender?
I think dangerous would know.

Hi Guys.
AFAIK all LC/LJ 6-cyl Toranas have their temp senders fitted in the head towards the rear, behind the carby.
The LC 6s have their top heater hose connected to the RH side of the lower thermostat housing. On LJ 6s that hole is not drilled, so there is nothing fitted in that area & the heater hoses are connected to the inlet manifold side of the engine.
Dr Terry.
