That GTR looks god awful, way to butcher a classic. Hotwires dont belong on the little Toranas. And try as I might, I just cant come to terms with flares on the little ones either. As suggested, paint your rims, fit dress trims and centre caps. Will look shit hot I reckon, especially given the colour of your car.

UPDATE: So as a lot of you know, I've had issues with the driveability of the car since day dot.

When I got it, it would pull hard to about 3000 rpm then cough and splutter and die

I assumed this was an issue with the carby as the car had sat for a while and when I put up pics, everyone said get that sh!t off your car.

So I got another Holley, put a kit through it, much of the same so figured it must be stuffed too.

Then I was selling some stuff to a forum member who offered another carby as part swap and you guessed it, the problem continued, however that carby stayed on the car.

During a visit from Dave (NA Power) and Mark (coupe), they noticed that the spark plug leads were in the wrong spots, and when we fixed this, the problem was 99% fixed.

I still had issues with missing while cruising, the occasional cough under acceleration, and rough running from time to time but it seemed to be related to the timing which I could never get right for long.

About a month ago, we went on a cruise, the car went great apart from the above issues when it got warm which had become normal.

However, I noticed another issue. When I went to start the car, it seemed to starve for fuel, so when we got home, I popped the bonnet with the engine off and noticed fuel oozing out of the sides of the carby where the base plate attaches, not good.

Of course I ran to get the fire extinguisher but luckily nothing happened so we pushed the car into the shed and I started fiddling.

I replaced the Manifold gasket cause there seemed to be some air leaks but still not sure, fixed an issue with my exhaust vibrating on the lower control arm ( I think), and swapped over the carby for the one I had put a kit through earlier. I figured it might actually be Ok as the timing was so terrible before.

Anyway, had to swap the base plate because the "new" carby had holes drilled in the butterflies so it idled way too high.

Last night started it and got it idling nice, very happy.

Took it out tonight and it goes like a shower of sh!t!!!

Seriously like driving a different car.

WE NEED HIGHER SPEED LIMITS!!!

The urge for burnouts was strong, but I resisted  :spoton:  :3gears:

I can now say without a doubt it is the quickest car I've ever owned by a long way.

No idea what the motor or carb have had done to them, but seem to go well together :-)

Next task is to make it look prettier and eventually more orange I think.

That's called "de-tuning for inspection" isn't it? (You want it nice and sedate to go over the pits so they don't ask too many questions...)

Or maybe you could call it "valet mode"!

Anyhow, glad the lads got you sorted out Craig, maybe you should've laid on the beers months ago?

Lol no beers and they got me started probably 18 months ago, just swapped the carby this week.

And yeah I could say I left it sluggish for the boys at DOT.

Thanks Laurie, I'm pretty happy with it

Good work Craig, must be great having all that power on tap!

Slowly, slowly, ironing out the bugs.

Cheers Marty,

I'm not sure about "power on tap" but it is definitely a lot better than it was and much nicer to drive.

Hmm.....interesting.....unlikely it was mine though cause it is a Queensland car.

The guy I bought it off seems to think it was here then Qld then back here but as far as I can tell that is unlikely.

She aint no trailer queen Gene, this is from the day I picked her up, matching trailer and all lol.

Was testing the new Photobucket plugin, seems to work for some but not others.

Still going strong...

Except for the wheel bearing that sounds like one of those noisy fireworks that squeal like a kettle.

This was taken at Torana West when I was trying to work out where the fireworks were being launched from.

By the time a wheel bearing is making that much noise it is pretty close to falling to bits.

It is about this time of the year my neighbours and I start playing boat trailer lotto.  We guess how long the ones that haven't been serviced since being in the salt last season are going to last.  Usually it takes three or four trips to the boat ramp to go from being noisy to being stuck on the side of the street with a wheel missing.

Yeah I know right, but these ones aren't that old and haven't been in the salt.

They're getting changed before its driven again, and it'll be a good opportunity to check out all the other stuff I did under there like 8 years ago now.

Man that has gone fast!!!

Its only noisy for a short time and then it goes quiet but I'm not taking any risks with this thing....

Not a rock caught in between the caliper and rotor?

Maybe, but it started making noise again every time it cooled down a bit....
