I've got 2 bonnets, one original paint and the other has had hail damage that was repaired with bog or some sort of spray on bog and I put them both on the scales and the repaired one weighs 5kg more than the original, thata bog weight can add up.

frOck me. I usually use ONE 4kg tin on an entire acco cab, and my panel beating is shit.

I would say a kilo of that goes on the ground.

So ues thats a frOckload of bog on the bonnet, sure ones not an earlyer model as they took a lot of weight oit of them in 76 or 77....

Both are ADR27a as they have the emissions sticker on them. Just weighed them again on digital scales and got 18.8kg on the paint only and on the repaired one got 23.1. The reason I weighed them was I noticed one was heavier just by lifting them. The heavy one does have some rust proofing so that may add a little but there is certainly a few kg of bog there, looks to be just a thin coating over the whole surface.

On the later model doors I have an intrusion bar from a front 4 door and it weighed a little over 4kg so I reckon an extra 5kg for a hatch door.

Also got a bare hatch and it weighed in at 17.8kg a little less than what LXSS350 got.
Hatch door with bar was 23kg .

The doors are late 77 with intrusion bar. Just fitted with new skins. The doors are fully primed with nothing in them.

I use the Intercomp 650 scales but old habits die hard and always measure cars in pounds. My weight distribution spreadsheet shows kgs once I enter what parts are going on the car.

I just used some digital bathroom scales so by looking at the scales you used maybe your figures are more accurate. I did measure a hatch window as well and got exactly 5kg, and my hatch door still has the original skin with plenty of paint and a good patch of bog. I weighed another door with no skin or Iintrusion bar and got 13kg

At $3k I hope they would be more accurate than a set of bathroom scales - LOL

Everything is either NOS and/or blasted inside and out, repaired, assembled and then primed and weighed bare (no fittings).

I measure everything right down to fender bolts as it all effects how the car will need to be set-up. (shock valving, spring rates etc). Throw on the carbon fibre door at 4.1kg or cf bonnet at 4kg, cf fender at 1kg etc and your front weight (with some other tricks) can get to 48% or better and bring your total weight well down on how holden built them. Less weight more speed, better distribution (weight) means better handling, braking.

Do the AA's mean the car was a hybrid ? :D

And interesting to see the numbers !
