Im looking at a kit on ebay (from AT Racing World)
And im wondering if there is anything i should look out for
The ad says its a RPM USA crank, is this a known brand or is it junk?
It also says its not cut and shut, And is it too cheap $1425 and no bids?
Thanks
Baz

Put it like this....
i paid this company $8000 in 1989 for an LS7 big block....crate motor.
It blew in 2 weeks.. Pulled it down to reveal an old standard 454 inside. already 0.060 up in the bore and completely rooted!
Were shonky then......... is shonky now.
Take your chances but I think you have already answered the question yourself....

And is it too cheap $1425 and no bids?
Thanks

Cheers Greg..

AT Racing are *Business Name removed by Tiny*, the stroker cranks need about 500-700 in mallory metal to get them anywhere close to balanced, everything the sell is shit and they shouldn't still be in business. Same goes with the pro-comp shite they sell

Mod Edit: Had to remove the business name. Please PM dave if you want to know who it was.
Thanks - Tiny.

there is a name getting around, "Uncle Pete's", as in the old toy store from blacktown, you remember the catch cry, "Uncle Pete's toys are madgic".

Yet another vote of no confidence. Those cranks have caused a few people some real head and heartache.

Big tip.

If you get rolled, tell Consumer affairs.

It may not help your case but the mounting evidence will bring about some uncomfortable heat and may help others.

If you make the effort to write a letter to CA and include a copy to the pricks it will show that they are being noticed by someone that can do something about them.

Who gives a FGUCK I hear you say.

If they are that bad CA should be swamped with complaints. It is in their interest to sort out the shonks.

It worked for me.

Cheers

Harrop,COME or Crankshaft Rebuilders are the cranks to buy.
The guy that sold those crappy cranks,is he the one that a certain biker gang want to have a good talking to?

I would go with any reputable stroker manufacturer such as:
Harrop
COME
Crankshaft Rebuilders
Pro-Stroke

in no particular order

if I already owned one of their cranks I would probably try to get it balanced to see how bad it is, you might find that it is 300-400 in mallory to get it balanced, would be cheaper than a new one and would be okay in a reasonably mild combo. That being said I would have avoided them like the black death to start with, sorry you got stung.

post it on ebay 4sale under sex toys :tease:
nah just kidding
i'm in perth and i've found alot of dodgy dealers ova here
eg: motor built by bob (name supressed) after 6k started knocking
when i pulled it down this is what i found
1: score marks on bottom half of some bores
2: two gudgon pins flogged (were replaced at rebuild)
3: crank wasn't deburred
so i'd never recomend (name supressed )campbell :finger:

i was given one of the cranks. i though bargin :D

i was building a basic motor anyway so i thought i'd give it ago.took it to the machine shop where they told me that it had to be index ground as it was out of index. fair enough,i didnt pay anything for it.

then,i told them to balance it for me.without thinking they sent it away to be done. $700 later it came back. ($500 worth of mallory and $200 labour)

so $200 for an index grind (pretty cheap) and $700 for balancing, the free crank cost me $900 and thats what come and harrop cranks were worth new at the time.

It pays to always ask for a quote when getting engine mods from professionals.
They more than likely have a different idea of 'cheap' to what you have ;)

Cheers
Herne
