Do you google all this stuff Steve or are you a walking encyclopaedia??? (hahaha).

I have a very good memory for totally useless information that will never make me any money.  If only I could use my talents for good instead of evil.

I miss The Late Show. The 'like a tiger' from footy show's Mahatma Coat was also ripped off from Rob Sitch, he was doing a send up of Imran Khan or some other Indian cricket player if memory is correct and got huge laughs from the phrase, he then milked that one repeatedly whenever in that character.

Dave, Other Dave said Its 3 seconds after amber.

I would have thought it should take a pic when the light turns red?

A millisecond after it goes red, its red. You should be stopped or clear of the line, no excuses.

In VIC the camera doen't go off until 0.5 seconds after the light goes red.

Wow ! I'm a dirty rotten GUILTY sinner ! I was booked recently for. 103 in a 100 zone on the kwinana fwy. That's ok though as I was breaking the law and could have killed someone. Like ole matey said the gov has the raise the revenue somehow. I actually feel we don't pay enough tax either. I really hope they raise the tax so the pollies can take another fat pay rise because they need my money more than me. DO THE CRIME , DO THE TIME !!

I'd appeal that one, especially if you have a clean record and it was in an older car.

I asked the DOT for some crash data to see if they can justify the install of dual Red Light/Speed Camera.

This was there response.

Thank you for your website enquiry of 24 July 2013 about crash data and speeding history at the intersection of Mulgrave Road and McCoombe Street in Cairns. Your website enquiry Contact Confirmation Number (CCN) is EN20137241304571950.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) crash data indicates that eleven crashes resulting in minor injury and property damage occurred between 2008 and 2013. No fatalities are recorded during this time.

Please note that due to availability of crash data, statistics available to TMR are limited to:

· Fatal crashes to 31 May 2013
· Hospitalisation crashes to 28 February 2013
· Medical Treatment, Minor Injury and Property Damage Only crashes to 31 December 2010.

The installation of red light and speed cameras is under the jurisdiction of Queensland Police Service (QPS). For information about speed camera installation and speed data contact QPS.

I trust this information is of assistance.

From memory the Vic government said that 70% of accidents happened at intersections. Not sure what the fine print on that was, though.

The other 30% or a large part of it would be p!ssheads speeding around a bend and not staying on the road.

Most 'p!ssheads speeding round a bend' type accidents occur in the country and don't get reported or the p!sshead runs away and isn't charged for being p!ssed.

Been there, done that.

Well those stats provided show 11 accidents in a 5 year period. I mean, it hardly seems like its a black spot?

Interesting calculators.

http://www.auburn.ns...calculator.html

http://forensicdynam...ance-calculator

Using the Auburn Govt calculator on a medium wet road (0.6).

Stopping distance at 60 km/h is 48.61 meters
Warning distance at 60 km/h with a 4 second amber is 66 meters.

Stopping distance at 70 km/h is 61.26 meters
Warning distance at 70 km/h with a 4 second amber is 57 meters.

Pretty sure the amber light cycle is 5 seconds here in Newmanland. I could be mistaken though.

You should be in jail. :nopity:

Your the reason why  we have to have fines and demerit points so we can make the streets safe and have a zero fatal accident society. Nothing worse than your hoon type behaviour and you deserve to be heavily penalised. LOL

How do some people get a licence? Have we all gone mad to allow such blatant and dangerous speeding on our roads? Speeding kills and saying penalties are revenue raising doesn't take into account the dramatic fall in fatal accidents since authorities got much tougher on speeding. :stirpot:

Yes its all logical and easy to justify because its backed up by the actual numbers. :wtf:

Hi All,

Here is the gist of what I said about 'Amber' Light times,

the Amber light has a certain time frame from when it starts after Green light to when it finishes and light goes Red.

I used the example of 3 seconds and 3.5 seconds, it has nothing to do with the Red Light Camera timing which goes on the RED LIGHT.

What it does do however is TAKE away .5 second of the mandated time (Times are examples only) from the Amber Light, and NOT allow drivers their proper allotted time to get through light before red comes on and camera takes picture - which has NOTHING whatsoever to do with being OVER THE SPEED LIMIT, because You can be UNDER and still pinged because Timing of AMBER light is wrong.

This is not from me but historical fact, after a Motorist went to court (2012 and I believe either a serving or ex Policeman)and beat the fine based on timing evidence, VicRoads found at least another 8 cameras that were 'faulty' in their timing of Amber lights.

Hope this clears things up a bit.

daveml.

I call traffic offences, cigarette tax, alcohol tax, gambling tax etc fool tax.

If we all stopped these the Govt's would cry poor and increase other taxes, hence i'm happy for the 'fools' to subsidise my tax!

If you are silly enough to smoke, drink heaps, break road rules and gamble excessively then stop it and you'll pay less tax!

I call fining someone for going 2klms over the speed limit an 'A-hole Tax'.

It is a well known fact that the gap between rich and poor has increased dramatically over the last 15 years.

So why don't we just up the tax rate on those at the very top ?

Most of them wouldn't even notice it. It's just a big game for them.

Kerry Packer loved to boast about his miniscule personal tax bill, all the while frivolously gambling away millions of dollars.

Some very good points, 2km/h over fines suck but it is still exceeding the speed limit!

Having spent many years doing my Apprenticeship and Degree and working hard to get ahead i'd be very p!ssed off if I was taxed at any higher rate than what I am simply to support a very inefficient and useless Government, based upon the fact I earn more than some others. At the end of the day it is a person's right to spend/invest/organise their finances that they earned in whatever way they want to pay the least amount of tax they can. As long as it isn't illegal tax evasion good on them! I have little doubt Packer possibly didn't do everyting by the book.

The govt. waived taxes to Packer and other business leaders because their businesses employ many people all of which pay tax, they give many Australians jobs and generate a lot of wealth for the country.

The govt. does this as an incentive to keep these people in Aus. rather than have them moving overseas and generating wealth for other countries.

Yeah, Packer spent a millions on gambling and even quite a bit on hookers (the Fleiss hookers called him the cowboy from down under) but it was his money to spend.

This guy, he knows.

A good accountant minimises your tax exposure, a bad accountant avoids tax.

Packer, I dare say, had a whole host of charitable donations, money re-invested into his groups of companies and a large company credit card statement (if you never got paid the money you were spending, well, theres no tax. Same thing with gift cards that are currently used as payments in a heap of industries)

I hate the whole idea of "tax the people with more money because they are more successful"

Thats like saying we should kneecap elite sportsmen....
