recently been checking out a 72 GTR inst panel that had a couple of problems...
the fuel gauge was stuck and the ammeter has a bent needle.
noticed in a couple of pictures on the forum that gtr inst panels seem to have the ammeter problem.
was this a serious safety problem? high current wiring into the passenger compartment increases chances of fire...
all those carpets and things...
replacement gauge from VDO will fit but look wrong however...
has sensing resistor for under bonnet wiring with low power signal wiring for the gauge ...
the fuel gauge pointer boss (black) had separated from the brass bush that remained on the shaft.
previous person had tried to fix it but pointer rubbed against glass. I fixed that bit up and it works well.
a friend suggested a need for a torana instrument panel test box, has anyone published a design?
