Hang Ten sponsored the Sandown 400 in 1977, the year Brock won in the patterson A9X. Not sure if they sponsored any other years or not.

Hi

Hang Ten actually sponsored the Sandown race - precursor to Bathurst - in September
of 1976, 77, 78 & 79 and maybe others later.
I was actually there for them - not that I can remember all that much about each race meeting. I dug up all the race programs that I've horded of the events.
In 1976 Colin Bond had a camshaft failure in the No. 1 HDT L34 while approx. 40 seconds in the lead at a bit over half distance - somwhere after lap 65 according to the race report in the 1977 Australian Competition Yearbook.

That race meeting on 12 September 1976 was a big one because the Hang Ten event and the Aust. Grand Prix ( F5000s ) were both staged at Sandown on that day.

Needless to say that Group C touring car era and the mighty Toranas hold some of my favourite motor racing memories and why I now follow them in Historic racing when I can.

Cheers JR.

G'day Red

Unfortunately I won't be able to get to the muscle car masters.
Judging by the TV coverage of the 2005 event it was a great gathering even though it rained. I hope this year is bigger and better than 2005 and I will be banking on Mark Oastler presenting another highlights program on the box.
It was terrific to see the retired heroes like Bondy, Morris, Bartlett even Moffat & Jane reunited with the cars that were so important in their careers.
I hope AMC consolidate and build on last year's success with the event.

Cheers JR.
