Trying to get the 253 in working order before dropping it into the LH...

Took the rochester off because the primary butterfly shaft was ceased. Managed to uncease it and have both primary and secondary throttles working, (not sure if correctly though). Problem is, i can't remember how the linkages for the chokes connect back up to the primary shaft. Or where all the vaccuum lines go... Any ideas? pictues maybe?

Cheers.

if you having that much trouble with stuck shafts and the like, i'd hate to see what else could be wrong with it (stuck needle and seat, dead float etc etc) you be better of with a reco unit, sounds like your one is going to give you no end of trouble, even if it does run.
try hume performance at warick farm, the guys there offer free advice when approached with a friendly attitude.

i suggest next time borrow a digital camera and take photos, it costs nothing and erase them once finished, wouldnt be the first time ive done it, especially with new model cars, pipes and sh#t everywere.

A good carby overhaul kit usually comes with a parts diagram which are a great help at getting the things back together.

^mmmmm man i just had a thought, you not trying to operate the carb incorrectly are you, cause the top butterflys only open with engine vacuume, the bottom ones work like a mechanical secondary, together they function to lift the jet rods to allow fuel flow.
just a thought.

The GMH HQ Manual 4 has all the rebuild/adjustment info for the Quaddy. I have a rebuild kit diagram, but depends which quaddy you have, there are over 20 variations of the Quadrajet. Also, I have no scanner, old one died.

Basic piping is auto choke vacuum off the rear, mechanical advance of the front right (looking at the carb from the front), fuel top centre on the front, and to the cannister centre bottom (under the fuel line). That should be all the tubes, brake vacuum comes off the manifold.
