I have a prob where we want to fit child seats in the rear of a UC, they use the existing belt to fasten the child into the seat. The UC belt is not long enough to do this, ive even used a front stalk on the buckle end, which gives another 15cm but still not long enough. (Ive actually had a large person who couldnt fit in either.
The UC rear lap sash belt is 196cm from bolt hole to bolt hole in extended form.
Im guessing LH/Lx would be the same.
I would be greatful if someone on the forum who has a Kingswood/statesman/monaro could measure the length of the rear belt to see if it is any longer.......I think we all aware of the prob of getting aftermarket belts to fit the torrie because of the larger bolt holes.

Thanks.

Just a thought but you could make (or have one made to exacting standards) up an adjustable seat belt extention. They do this on airlines for larger people so I guess it has to be legally acceptable.

Cheers

I'm not sure if i have seen these in Big W/Kmart ect in the section with the kids car seats..maybe worth a look or a talk to a business that rents baby capsules and child harnesses.

Thanks for the suggestions ^ re the extensions.
I rang a couple of seatbelt/restraint installers and yes they exist.......but not to fit a 78 torrie.
I suppose we could buy some generic ones, one can slide the smaller 7/16 in bolts through the 1/2 inch holes on the rear of the torrie and put a nut on the other side, unlike the front where you cant do that on the side mounts.
Possibly the statesmans had rear inertia style ones that would be longer?

Is this sedan or hatch?

Keep in mind that LHs had the seatbelts bolted into the C pillars, but I can't visualise it and tell you whether that would be any longer or shorter than the parcel-shelf-mounted belts. Probably identical, but could be food for thought.

Well look if worst comes to worst you bite the bullet and get some made up... I have seen LCs with retracting seatbelts... so I imagine it can be done at some cost.

I've seen photos of torana's with later model seat belt stalks, and I would be assuming they had later model seat belt too. I'm almost positive I saw this in 2wild4u's car, perhaps you can have a word with him and be so kind to report back here :)

I was hopeing that someone with one of these larger cars could measure their belts........wreckers are never interested/helpful when you are trying to find an alternative part .....ie all you get is "tell us what car is it for pal"

At present they are 196cm between bolt holes. Needs another 40-50cm.
