I had a stack of pics of the blue LJ with LS1 in Vic. pretty much needed a remote brake booster, fan needs to be on front side of radiator, custom pipes etc made and I think the main reason it was for sale is he couldnt get it registered.

Good luck. Should fit snuggly in there.

Had an engineer come and see me to day, and you can in Victoria. LS1LX, how big and wide are these LS1's. Torana308, thanks for pics. it looks like it fits. I'm going to shifting the booster even if i put a 4cyl in it, i hate the look of them. I just have to decide which way to go in the next few weeks, do a 308, chev or LS1.

gtrboyy has a Holden V8 in his Heath. just something to remember, the cahssis rails on a LC are the same width apart as a LX, so pictures of one of them would help too

Go the LS1.....

Budget roughly 35K, yes you could get it in and running for 15 or so, but the extras that are required just keep adding up :)

Ok.. here we go... Im not going to put in what i paid for what i have so far, as i ve picked stuff up over the last two years, and pricing has changed. However the basics will still add up, its not hard to figure out.

for $15k..this includes.

* Purchase of Engine
* Purchase of 6 speed gearbox
* Purchase of custom headers
* Purchase of custom sump
* Custom Engine mounts
* Refabrication of Transmission tunnel.
* Hi Torque Starter
* Purchase of Fuel pump, fuel lines, Tank modification for EFI and other related fuel system.
* ECU Edit / Chageover ECU
* Purchase of Custom Wiring loom/s Engine and ECU

With the above..as i said, you could get the thing in and running....

Then theres the rest of the stuff:

* Clutch Setup - Hydraulic or otherwise
* Replacement Idler Pulley ( when not using P/S)
* Purchase of custom radiator and Thermo Fans.
* Custom Transmission mount
* Custom exhaust
* Bodywork
* Paint
* Custom suspension for V8 conversion
* Steering clearances and modifications.
* Chassis Kit - (not negotiable)
* Custom extension housing for reloaction of shifter position
* Electronic Speedo coverter box for analogue speedo OR
* Mal Wood custom extension housing for use with cable speedo
* Upgraded rear end....BW or Ford 9" ect
* Brake upgrade package - E.G Hoppers Kit ect Front and Rear.
* Brake Booster / Master Cyl relocation may be required for LC/J
* Custom Tailshaft
* Engineering serivices and approvals.

Now im sure theres something that i havnt come across yet. But rest assured, it all adds up.

I believe you on $35,000. If i didn't have a few people help, My lc would be a $20,000 2dr roller, and i started with a shell as good as they come. Drove it home for $2000 with 89,000 miles on it, bought it to cut up but was too good

Do you have do cut much on the tunnel for the box?

On an LJ i couldnt tell you about the tunnel, floorpan looks a bit different.

However there are two methods you could use to refab the tunnel in an LH/X

The first that was recommended by an engineer, was to graft a VT-VY tunnel section into the Torana ( a V8 manual of course ) The actual tunnel section if you can find one from a wreckers ect, shouldnt set you back too much. Its the cost of the grafting and fitting that will add up.

The second is a custom tunnel mod specific to the gearbox fitment.

I would think both options would end up costing roughly about the same.

was just about to post the same thing.

Some interesting pictures there, including the brakes, and the remote booster.

Looks like some cutting and shutting under that guard too. not sure what for

Its at 22,000 now, so im betting hes got roughly 30,000 on it. Note hes used a T700 and VX brakes
