Why dont you offer Quentin some cash for his 253? It runs 13's and gets awsome economy. I reckon he would sell it if the price is right.

I washed my daily today for the first time in a while and now I realise why the cops have been pulling me up more often - its because its an absolute heap and is starting to look like a rust bucket on wheels (its not as bad as TORANA AMORE's tho, lol). There is NO WAY its getting an egnine swap.
Actually, you know putting it on dedicated gas would be a good idea. I just happen to know a bloke who is selling a Gas Research twin throttle body setup for a mild 308, to pay off the credit card following the purchase of a new ignition system
Peace,

it all depends on the power level you want. if you want all balls out power, a set of tuned length, long primary headers are the way to go. if you want a better torque curve, get a set of interferance or tri-y headers. i have standard manifolds on my HQ with a 308 and warm cam and it works very well. thats with a straigght through twin 2" system. because its a 253, there wont be as much flow as a 308, and therefore tou wont need extractors in the sense of having a bigger exhaust. the exhaust length and muffler selection also plays a big part in manifold selection as well as cam and carb or other relavent modifications which have taken place. i'm gonna assume its near stock, so i would suggest standard manifolds with a straight through single 2-1/4 or 2-1/2 system or twin 1-7/8 or twin 2". i hope this has helped you somewhat and good luck.

Great stuff Mal, cheers for that.
Liam - hehe credit cards are evil things hey. But what a nice ignition system you now have!!! As for your daily driver - maybe it's time for a "quick respray".. ?? hehehehe. I promise it would snowball into a full rebuild....
LX406 - yeah I had thought about Q's stuff, but I reckon he's better off keeping that setup tucked away in his shed. Too much history!!!! If I was ever going to build the 253 though, I would want it exactly the same as his!

Put it this way.
Mildly Spicy 308 = R33 GTS-T Skyline (stock) > Twin Turbo Supra (stock) > 253.
Between the 308 and the GTS-T will come down to who has the better tyres for the better launch.
Once both have traction and the GTS-T on full boost should be about dead even.
Certainly no slouch on the road, but by no means they're no roof-mounted jet engine.
Might not be fair to compare mildly worked 308 to stock of other cars, but when you consider the cost of doing that 308 to mild etc. you could still build four torries with those 308's for the cost of one TT Supra or Skyline, and it sounds and looks tougher
When that kid with a billion dollar loan debt for his GTS-T next to you can't pull away from your 31 year old 308...
You decide where you want to be on the food chain

I've decided to stay with the standard exhaust manifolds for now. The car is booked in tomorrow to have the original pea-shooter twin system replaced with a nice new twin 2" system, with twin triple flow mufflers.
It will be interesting to see what difference (if any) this makes to the sound, performance and fuel usage...

stock gts-t are slow but. A gts-t with an exhaust, apexi power fc, adjustable cams and a decent retune will go hard. But you got the formula wrong, the tt supra goes harder than all of them. I would know I used to play with them.
