Hi, just after some info, has anyone had, or have aftermarket side mirrors on their lj. I'm finding it extremely ard to find a lj passenger side one, I currently have a, which I believe, to be a hq stem and mirror which rubs againt my door. Any mods need to be done, st drilling another mount hole, etc

hi mate ....I'm only repeating what  Ithink spack? told me...but the HQ ones are a bit different and do hit the Toranas.

The LJ ones have the same head, but a different stem (I think ).

I;ve been looking for a LJ passenger side one for a while, they are as rare ARHP.

Pop up on ebay every now and then in the $30 -$100 price range.

Spack may confirm?

Correct Col, the HQ side mirror stems don't suit the LJ.

Hey guys, thanks for the swift reply. Ok, I've never taken a mirror off, so if I was to fit aftermarket ones, would I need to redrill another hole. Do the lj's have one screw or two? I had watched one on eBay about 6 months ago, but wasn't quick enough, sold for $17 I think, damn. Cheers boys

2 screw holes for the LJ mirror stem mounting bracket. Which aftermarket mirrors you buy will determine the fixing holes and their positions.

Thanks guys, I have found a couple of sets on eBay, look a bit like lc mirrors but still pretty nice, the mounting holes are 100mm apart, does this sound about right for the lj mirror stems? Does anyone know the distance on the between the screw holes on an lj?

One of the Forum members a few years back , was making a tapered insulator /rubber , to bring the top out , so you could use the wrong stem .

I too am am after a set of LJ mirrors a pair would be nice,

I've got good mirrors on my LJ but they are not right for it, in saying that the ones I have on my car are genuine A9X/L34 mirrors.

I'd be happy to swap someone, I just don't want to take them off untill I have the ones I need.

By the sounds of things with how hard the LJ ones are to get I might just paint the black part of the A9X ones the same colour as my car and keep them on.

Still not right though its been bugging me since I bought the car, I knew from day 1 but everything else is matching so I though mirrors yeah no worries,
I keep forgetting 8 years ago and 18 years ago times when I had my last LJ's all these parts were cheap and easy to get.

Hi

2819793 for the LH stalk. The left hand mounting bracket and pad also have different P/Ns to the RHS.

Cheers

thanks again Bazza....seems wierd that my plastic for rhs isnt the identical  p/n as stalk like the LHS is so they match

thats why i thought it would be a 7 for last digit instead of 8.

thanks for the info

Have you thought about using reproduction mirrors?

My next question would be about the plastic "wall plug" secuering point for the screws to go in
That all the mirrors come with
This seems like a problematic , weak way to fit the mirrors is there a metal threaded plate or something that can go inside the door to secure them properly or I was thinking of making one up with a peice of plate and a thread tool ?
Do these plastic plugs give people grief, loosen or fall out ??
