I have a problem with the 355chev/5sp T5/650 holley in my LH. Would love some advice

 

Cold started the engine for the first time in a month - perfect as normal. Kicked over straight away. 

Once warmed it all fell apart:

- She wont idle at all, driving is a mess - I have to leave a foot on the accelerator or it dies in the street

- Starting when hot is a bastard with torrents of unburnt fuel pissing out the tailpipes

- It appears there is a very small amount of petrol leaking out the carb from the passenger side 

 

When it all cools down she starts up and manages to idle a very roughly until its all warm and then the whole abovementioned cycle starts again. 

 

Any help would be much appreciated. I sense a tow truck in my future because she is too dangerous to drive with my limited left foot braking experience. 

 

If someone can post a good pic of the passenger side of a holley in play that would be good too.

Cheers LS1 - I dont recall any backfire. To be honest I had to google power vavle!

And a quick search on google certainly lends itself to the float stuck theory. How hard to unstick?

Float stuck open perhaps and fuel dripping out of the boosters and straight down the carby ?  Or even perhaps blown power valve if you had a back fire at all ?

 

Holleys are pretty simple, don't be afraid to open it up if need be.     (and pretty simple to check the float level by just pulling the plugs on the side of the bowls.) but if you have it idle...as best as possible at least that is...and look straight down the carby and see a decent amount of fuel dripping down inside you have some issue of course..

+1 for a gummed up or dirty fuel float needle and seat.
