The Normal LJ wiring runs on the flat part of the inner guard, does on the XW7 Drawing for the Engine Bay set up.

Cheers for the diagram LC69GTR, I'll add it to my records :D, it is interesting that most of this stuff seems to be privileged information even 44 years after the event.

There is a reason for it.

xgtr that's 90's mod we all did when hidden wiring became the trend.

Notice in diagram alt charge wires snakes it's way to starter then another battery-starter cable.

Got that XW-7 street machine mag stashed somewhere but forgot details.

Assumed they used kingy alternator bracket on passenger side as lh/x wasnt out yet?

They have smaller battery like xu1 or moved it to other side?

Cheers gtrboyy, It does seem like a bit of a rush job though.

Most of the holes are either rough or crooked, I get the feeling from the amount of insulation on it whoever did the job was a little concerned with heat, even has a sewn up silver insulated sheath at the starter end of the loom.

There is a wire from the positive end of the battery terminal still in place which actually extends to over 1700mm, which I thought was a little long.

There is a lot of weirdness and coincidence going on with this car, a few of which I haven't even mentioned yet.

I thought I had it pegged as an old rally car but a v8 of all things? it has a standard steering rack dated 9/72 unmodified, the last motor it ran seems to have been a 6cyl though at least on the reg anyway.

last known reg was 1977 with an engine bearing the number 31943R, which is the motor I believe was fitted by Holmesford in 1975, no records of reg seem to exist between 72 and 77.

I've been charged with one of those cars to research Lol!   :banghead:

Repro LC/LJ Torana discs.

Looks like someone wanted to tart it up with orange calipers, yellow stubs and orange steering arms.

Accelerator pedal assy to suit throttle cable.

XW7 Wiring set up for the 308 V8, this is the artist impression from the XW7 Drawing that was in street machine. Street Machine Magazine must of been worried about Copy right from Holden, so did it how they did it.

Kingswood alternator bracket was the same as other V8 Holden or Statesman from the same Series, and it differed for HT-HG to HQ, plus for A/C cars was different. But the one in that Street Machine diagram is not from a Holden or Statesman, it is on the wrong side and looks to pivot at the bottom rather than the top.

Orange paint is pressure pack crap and just flakes off (even did the wiper motor) the yellow paint is much more durable I think.

Nice parcel shelf though (even if someone did ruin it with speaker holes :furious:) it's made from 2mm steel plate with racing harness attached.

It changed hands several times throughout 75 though, south yarra, kew and frankston, didn't sell and all the while it carried april reg, AOMC is simply missing the record, I know there should be a record of it changing hands but there simply isn't.

Notice how they got the year wrong also, I don't think it ever had tags?

What are the odds of two white 000 code cars ending up in the same area one after the other when both would have had signs of being an engineering car?

How many white 000 code GTR's did GMH have in it's possession which happen to pre-date june 72?

JL127067 was your cars original Engine number, LDN028 would be at AOMC for sure

Was your car in the same Area ? Rego papers on your GTR have Princess HWY Dandenong on it, your car was  out at GMH Dandenong and that is 33kms from Port Melbourne,  i reckon your car was used by a GMH Boss out at GMH Dandenong ????? as his company car.  Strange as its a 000 X Car and it missed the Boat.

Sorry Al, should have been more specific, I meant the Wansley car in the Age, and yet you mentioned he sold it in 75?

Wamsley told me he Sold it in 1975, his words.

Untill we get a rego number on the Wamsley Car, we only have the Age Newspaper Clippings, Vic Roads Archives need a rego plate for Wamsley Car to find its info out.

I'll try and make the association with the Wansley car to the 000x with VicRoads and see how it turns out, maybe I need to be more specific this time.
