Just heard an add for Shell Optimax on MMM (Sydney)
At the end of the add, a guy says "Good for the Torana"
Made me smile..

Just the way it is, I can't say why it has the ethanol in it.

EDIT: misread the response, its bad cos it eats fuel lines from the inside out doesn't it...?

If it is over 10% it can have problems like that...but I think you will find after the great ethanol scare of a few years back they legislated what fuel actually is and capped ethanol at 10 %..my local "united" servo has a thing going with CSR...they have 10 % ethanol in a few of different blends (91. 95 and 100..I think..will have to check) but the gist of it is the cheapy 91 octane is always a good 10 cents cheaper than anyone else price on any given day. My VT always says it intends to do about 610 km on a tank of it....it claimes about 650-670 km on premium.

its a shame how this has panned out the fuel prices sadly now that the fuel companies have realised that they can charge us this much and get away with it even if fuel supplies is topped up again i doubt prices will drop

but you never know ....

cheers chevy

Quite right there FastEH, 10% ethanol causes minimal harm to car components. It's not till you get up to 85% that it causes severe degradation of the soft alloys in your fuel pumps and carburettor bodies that it becomes a problem. Ethanol is a solvent (word found). This is actually a good mix with unleaded fuel, as it eats away all the gummy deposits etc and keeps your fuel lines clean.

Yella runs 10% Ethanol Premium, Super E10 I think they call it.
