All packed and ready for an early start tomorrow. Saturday, Sunday and a leisurely cruise home Monday, doesn't get much better than that. See you there Tim.

Perfect weather and a great day, it just seems to get bigger and better every year. Apart from Dustings not enough big Toranas, those XU1s flew the flag and impressed us though.

Great pics from the weekend

Off topic I know Wayne, and I am sure this has probably been asked a hundred times before on here, but roughly how many road going standard L34's would be left today?

You could take one off the total of 263, as a friend of mine had a chrome yellow one stolen from his driveway around 1984,it had all the HO bits fitted to it from new, sadly never seen again

Tim a question for you and your Dad might know, why are the bigger Toranas not racing as much? The xu1s are always there in good numbers and really are crowd pleasers, But the Hatches and Slrs a few and far between. Does it come down to cost?

I would like to thank Wayne Quine (outer control) for setting up and making the 40th anniversary of the L34's a fantastic weekend, and to all people involved over the weekend, thankyou for your friendship. a great bunch of Guys and Gals chewing the fat and helping each other to the max, what could be better, (apart from being on the edge coming towards the southern loop, with Kym screaming
slow down you dickhead)lol

Oh and cuddling the track girls was the icing on the cake (Craig has pic)
cheers Gary

There's always a good turnout of NC XU1s as anyone can build one up & enter, can't obviously with Group C&A

As for the hatch/L34 guys, cost/time & work would be the main reasons for not being there. It's expensive just to be there without even adding car accessories/spares
Accom, entry fee, transport, food etc

Then there's fuel, tyres, servicing costs. Ads up

Me and the mrs got along there Sunday & it was a great day. My wife works for RDA Australia & her boss is a sponsor down there so we got tickets to the lunch above the pits.
It was great as we got to see sir jack brabham & help sing happy bday to him & bev Brock was sitting on the table next to us. A good feed was put on & a few cold frothy's went down a treat.
It was a really good day as there was such a varity of race cars from all diff classes & it was really interesting to see some of them with the bodies off them in the pits.

All in all it was a great day & even my mrs liked it.

Cheers, Nig.

Nig, you must have been near us at the lunch, saw Bev and James sitting with the US visitors from Hollywood Motors and later they were joined by Norm Beechey. Plenty to like about a free
feed and a couple of beers courtesy of the VHRR and Duttons.
Plenty of action on the track and lots to see around the pits.

High 70 to 80 left in any form or state of repair even rebodied cars going or not .Original motor gearbox diff even repaired going original examples including a few i may not know about around 30 would cut it out. If anybody knows any different to that i would be only to pleased to talk to you about it.

Yeah I was the bloke with the dreads on the end table closest to the bar haha. Not sure if bev Brock was sitting on that table the whe time but after lunch finished she was sitting on the one next to us. It was unreal seeing about 10-15 toranas fly past down the straight at full noise.

Cheers, Nig.
