This is starting to sound like fun.
Does the block need clearancing for a counterweighted crank ?

Volvo pistons (4cyl B20 and 6cyl B30) are very close to a 173 as well. Flat top, 3.5" bore, 0.866" pin height and 1.81" comp height. So piston top is only 30 thou taller than a 173, probably would make them sit right at deck height!
Don't know what size the pins are by any chance do you please ?

0.866" pin, I typed height after it by mistake. Same pin size as the Holden piston. They are flat tops. ACL part number was 6MKRY2603 (or 4MKRY2603 for the 4cyl but same piston just a different amount in the set). Rings are 0.078, 0.078, 0.187, same as a 173.
Plenty of pistons and rings on Ebay:

I like the volvo pistons idea to get you up to about 190 cubes.
If you were really serious about getting the full 202 and worried about boring out the standard 173 block to 3.625 for the 202 pistons could it be re-sleeved with 3.625 sleeves?

Yeah I know, but the Volvo pistons were all but 173 flat top replacements, or 179 with STD bore at +0.060". The 2.0L Ford pistons are the ones that go close for a 173 with a 202 crank.

Yes I suddenly remembered that today.
Reading Johnno's thread but he doesn't recommend boring the little ends of Starfire rods though, so might need another type of piston (or rod).
5.71" Olds Quad4 rod ? - (from Johnno's thread, Piston section).
