Again I stand corrected, my own fault for making assumptions on how far up the carby the solenoid is. I looked into Jacobs diesel engine brakes and how they work and diesel exhaust brakes, butterfly in engine pipe, when I was doing a lot more 4x4ing. I could see all sorts of complications by shutting off the exhaust with ignition and fuel still running on a petrol carburetted motor. I would be interested to learn if the above theory would work as I could see no issue on gas, EFI or diesel. Would mean a solenoid, relay or 2, a tacho switch to turn it all back on at return to idle speed? Could we sell it to ARB? :spoton:

Thanks Rodomo, Tiny, Dr Terry, alx76 and Loki(originator) for providing some insight into the puzzle(for me anyway) of what is being sucked into the motor on overun etc. For me, its not about who is right etc , but getting it right. No one should feel the need to apologise for getting it wrong, or should feel hard done by if someone disagrees.....thats discussion.
You never know what you learn out of it all( or when you may actually apply what youve just learnt), I nothing about varijets, idle circuits etc, or had given any thought to the effect of manifold pressure on compression etc.......wont have the opportunity to try out the full throttle, no fuel engine overun in proper conditions for a little while, but will let you know.
Cheers.
